No, those sorts of luxuries only started to come in with the facelift TD5. Even then, I don't think the rear door glass was ever tinted. Darren

Looking on LR Workshop MWC4713 is a 4mm green tint glass for upto 1A. Heated but without high level brake light. Seems still available genuine and aftermarket too 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

My 2003 110 CSW had an un-tinted rear door glass. Only the windscreen had a small tint on it.
Now fully tinted front to back and love it  |

Ah, forgot about the green tinted stuff. I was thinking more of modern dark tints. Darren

Love the dark tint on Miffy. However, at night in Winter it can be challenging to see out of it when reversing in to dark places
 The one downside.
The upside is privacy, looking cool  and for the dogs it does really keep the internal temperature down. |

A big LED work light above the rear door

I have dark tint on my 110, I removed it from my rear window as it is very hard to see out at night. Just consider that if you do it. I would not recommend 85%.
In the pic you can see the two side windows are tinted as well like you are considering.

You could always fit a good reversing camera system. I don't have a rear window at all (IW canopy with solid flap) but have two cameras on the back and it is now the easiest vehicle to reverse of any I have ever owned. The upside is that those annoying people behind with absurdly bright and often badly adjusted headlights (and worst of all, those with modern adaptive lights) are no longer an irritant. I would hate to go back to having a rear window and would probably plate it over if I did. |

I couldn’t agree more with you BW. I also don’t use my rear door window. For over 20 years the first thing I do is take off the rear view mirror, that way I get a full windscreen view and as you say I don’t get the blindingly nasty modern led headlights in my eyes. I also use cameras and my wing mirrors are essential.

I do have a reversing camera fitted, and good point from 4RDS on reversing at night with a tinted window. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Not wishing to hi-jack Johns thread but I would be interested in your dual camera setup Blackwolf. To be honest I think the only reason I still have the rear view mirror fitted is to keep an eye on the dogs  I cannot see anything through their crate |

No probs GB. I would be interesting the two camera system. I have a 2nd one to go on the Harvey Frost so I can see cars on tow, but not decided on the best install/setup yet 1999 Defender TD5 110

There's nothing clever about mine, I have an Optimill number plate light with built in camera which is connected to the flip screen of my ICE, and an entirely separate wireless camera from Amazon which is mounted on the rear of my roof rack looking downwards. The screen for this is on a Ram mount on one of the centre dash fixing screws.
The Optimill camera gives a good view straight backwards and the other is perfect for backing close to objects or hitching trailers. I actually have a second wireless system (twin to the first) with the camera mounted on the back of my IW LM146 and I add the screen on a second Ram mount when towing. Since the LM146 doesn't have reversing lights this is wired to the tail lights which is handy since you can keep the image running all the time if you wish. I'd suggest a wireless unit would be ideal for the HF Towboy as well. |
