nice.
the silver and white are two colours I wish I'd gone for over the grey. but hindsight is such a wonderful thing. looks great - I hope you enjoy and have a hassle free and reliable time. |

Interesting…..we were hunting for dark grey and felt like we settled on silver as other factors made it the right balance in this case.
As for reliable…..my wife named the car….ever seen Ron’s Gone Wrong? Fingers crossed….. |

Thanks.
Does look rather super doesn’t it. Quite like having arches in silver vs black, but each to their own. A strange part of me wants hinges to fail quickly so I can fit black Optimill jobbies, but one mustn’t wish parts into the bin! |

So a few months and 3k miles in now and I must say, this truck still makes me smile every time we go out.
Things that surprised me:
Got very used to rolling about on the country lanes around here. Drinks more diesel than expected. My eldest daughter still misses the Audi. Headlights are not half bad! Suspect standard candles are awful though. Less about it being the most fun daily driver ever (I do miss 300BHP under the foot some days), more about having a different kind of fun. Smiley fun. Where are we now? Just about sorted the leaks and door alignments, have a decent head unit in place and the list of clips, trims, duff switches etc are mostly ticked off. What's next?
Replace the minibuss steering wheel. Rack and ladder. Start the sound deadening. Change the worklight. Get my mech to check I haven't overlooked any items which need sorting sooner rather than later. Love this thing. |

Just finished a removable MTB rack for Ron.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Wanted to have something removable, adjustable and usable for my bikes and the kids ones. Also didn’t want to start fixing things direct to the tub. Test run today with one of the kids was pretty successful. Cabin is just big enough for my longest bike and so much quicker to use than my previous set ups. Not bad for V1. |

Don’t know how I’ve missed this thread until now!
Fantastic looking Defender! I will be adding the black roof and sawtooth wheels to mine. They definitely are testing vehicles- but just keep plodding on and attacking the ‘to do’ list. Also. Take plenty of pictures along the way of your Le Mans trip! 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |

Started on the sound deadening. Lordy this is a satisfying bit of arts and crafts.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Forgot to take a photo with full coverage…..was too quick to pop the carpet back! Will be doing it bit by bit as time allows, having to put it all back together in between shifts as Ron is on daily duty. Starting on the box sections and floor, will move to the side panels after that. [/s] |
