The revised bracket is a straight fit, you need two longer bolts than the originals from memory, but it is a long time now since I’ve fitted one.

The cheap Tdi timing tool kits from Amazon etc are very good, although you still need crankshaft pulley holder (ebay)

A proper MHH Torqueleader or similar is required to properly tension the belt.

A set of pushrods and possibly some rockers.
Remove the rocker shaft and the rockers from it to check for cracks or breakage in the rocker shaft itself.

Latest in my cambelt saga….

Once the timing case was open it would appear the belt had just snapped. Despite being a genuine dayco belt from Bearmach fitted less than 2yrs ago. It was perished and a bit grotty looking, no other apparent reason for failure.

However, the aux drive pulley had to have the bush burnt out to get it off and the aux belt tensioner had failed.

Am I right in thinking I need the following?

ERR2220R - Crankshaft Damper Assembly
ERR4708R - Aux belt tensioner
ERR5087 - Damper assembly bolt

I’m sticking a new water pump on for good measure whilst refreshing all the rest as seems the logical thing to do.

The good news is, fired up first turn.

How have you fired it up without a crank damper assembly and bolt fitted? That holds the bottom timing belt pulley in place.

Old one back on, start up, turn off. Just to make sure the engine actually runs, given cambelt failed and has been stood for almost 14months.

Replacing as it’s been heated to get it out. Don’t fancy reusing it long term just incase.
