Agree on both counts, the roof looks superb, so does the one on the left!! Is it a BMW?

Technically its the Thruxton "R" I believe, with the gold forks / Ohlns shocks
The old 'ton up' boys would be quaking with fear at what those so called retro's are capable of these days..... |

It's been a while since i have updated this thread I just had to reed through to make sure that the update is not already on one of the pages, luckily it's not
So for something different . . . . . . . When we strip the old roof off to put the new thatch on we have to always prep the old roof underneath which will be the top one of many layers, we have to firm the old thatch up to give a firmness for the new spars ( pegs ) to grip / hold into so the main coat holds good. Once the the old top layer of thatch has been took off we are left with this Click image to enlarge Then we go over all the roof / section that we are doing using plastic spars, yes you heard right, these hold better in old thatch as you can see why in the pic below Click image to enlarge These are made from old car batteries, they finally got the " mixture " right as they were to soft or to brittle, we have been using these for a good few years now We then go over the section using the plastic spars with a traditional reed bind with the approx distance between them. Pic below, made a start Click image to enlarge A closer look for you Click image to enlarge When we have done all this prep work we start to put the main coat of thatch on 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
