lf you fit a different ECU does it not need coding to your injectors before it will work properly, like on my Ford Transit Connect?

Or is it not an issue on the TD5

Yes you will have to code the ECU to your injectors. If you have not been able to get the codes from the old ECU then you will need to pop the rocker cover and read them off the injectors.

EDIT: and you will have to link to the alarm/immobiliser as well.

So it needs a new engine management unit.

Anybody know where l can get one quickly? It's a late Defender TD5

Part no. NNN50020

Why?

I think it the blue underseat header is faulty C0294, I’d be interested to see if you wiggle it will it start!

Also check the white header joint bolted to the bulkhead as that controls everything you have missing.

l tried all suggestions, check the earths, the inertia switch, live feeds, etc and it made no difference

The RAC guy spent an hour on it and got nowhere

The garage swapped the ECU for a known good one and it started instantly

So l guess it's the ECU. They do fail without warning.

So, it was the ECU

l took the ECU to a guy who specialises in Defenders, he had a look at it and found a faulty resistor on the PCB.

He replaced it and it's back in the Land Rover and working perfectly.

I thought that was pretty decent of him, as he could have sold me a replacement ECU.

He charged me £80 for the repair.

l bought an ECU off him anyway for £700, to keep as a spare, and he waived the £80 repair charge on mine.

So l've got a repaired ECU and a spare, the spare has been loaded with my injector codes and a remap, for £700

l paid nearly £400 for just a remap from
one of the big companies a few years ago.
