255/85 advice

Hi,

Looking to change my tyres on my defender 90 (standard height)

Currently got 235/85/16’s on my sawtooths which are et20?!?! Would i be able to change to 255/85 without much alterations??

Any images would be great! Cant seem to find any sawtooths with 255/85’s fitted!!

I run 265/75’s on my 16 inch sawtooth’s , the 255/85’s will be taller but narrower so you should be able to fit with no problem at all. Noting for balancing you may wish to look at beads rather than standard weights as the 255/85’s are generally only in an MT.
A minor adjustment of the stops to prevent rubbing on full steering lock may be required but that’s all.

PS. If your sawtooth’s are factory they will be ET20 , it will be stamped on the inner side of the wheel.

Since I first saw pics of them, I’ve fancied these, but so far they haven’t been available as All Terrain’s, just M/T and my useage just doesn’t justify that.

Anyone know if they’re available in A/T yet? Donald

255s really look the business. I have them on dual-finish et33 with no problem.
On Sawtooths they will be great as they have the same et20,6 as wolfs but are half an inch wider.

255/85 for me, I’ve ran them for a good 4 years now. On Boost rims but great tyre size.
I prefer them to 235’s.

I have never lost traction off-road with them, mud, take it all. Just go easy in the wet like all MT’s.

I run on MT’s all the time, lots on road but I only do around 6 - 8k a year.

Dynabeads are good.

Dynabeads and weights work too, if you have no weights or don’t want any. A bit more Dynabeads in weight maybe useful.

See Blackwolfs posts on here regarding Dynabeads and application quantity.
Mine has the standard recommended amount but you can go somewhat higher in weight. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

i have 255/85's on mine, i do have a 2 inch lift but they'd be fine on standard ride height

Hello, the only A/T 255/85 i am aware of is the toyo m55 (ultra hi quality commercial tyre), if you have a kidney to spare...

Hi DeeEss! On 255 it looks really good

I see on this pic that your Def is registered in Switzerland. Any issue with the tecnhical inspection in CH with your 255?

Think the 255/85’s are the way forward, just look right with the height and not too wide!

Hi Lolo, no problem at MfK with 255/85R16 as long as they are on an approved 6.5 or 7 inch rim 👍🏼 Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭
