Looks great! But for me with white roof I prefer white rims. James

I like both white and color matching rims. it was a hard choice, maybe should I have on side white and the other one color matching

Headlights issue
I've lost my headlights Side lights ok, flash high beam ok, but no more low beam nor high beam. Night is coming quicker than winter Incomimg traffic was delighted by my high beam tonight, also very practical to handle corners while holding the multifunction lever I am really not into electricity, than back to specialist to fix that |

It's almost certainly a failed stalk switch - the one used to flash the lights. These stalks take the full current for the headlights and have a habit of overheating and melting. This moves the contacts apart so you lose some combination of the headlights. The fix is a new stalk but it's also recommended to upgrade the circuit with relays to take the load off the switch. There are aftermarket overlay looms available with the one from Landreiziger being well regarded. They're not difficult to build, though. Darren

Thank you Darren
So it is either the main light or the horn/indicator stalk that is KO. And once replaced I should also consider a relay loom such as this one to prevent further failed stalk. https://shop.landreiziger.nl/lichtversterk...toren.html I've found a very didactic video released by Swiss compatriots on the headlight stalk(s) failure subject https://youtu.be/9aOI9emy20E |

A feast for the eyes, especially when knowing swiss winter road conditions. Are you going to keep those Nokians all year round on? |

As Darren says above, this will undoubtedly be a failed stalk switch, but my money with these symptoms would actually be the off/S&T/HS&T switch rather than the indicator/flasher switch. It will definitely be one or other though. The off/S&T/HS&T switch is easier to replace and cheaper, but it should be readily apparent on inspection if it is this rather than the other. The only lasting solution is to rewire the headlights so that the full headlight current is switched by relays, i.e., in the way that Landrover should have done it in the first place if they had had the slightest interest in the longevity or reputation of the vehicle (or in good design). It is an easy modification to do and has the benefit of significantly improving light output even with the lowest quality of bulb. |

Fitting LED lights should also decrease the current load... if you are allowed. Good ones do not come cheap though, but they are a nice upgrade.
Mine had also melted the connector (H4). Thats how much power is lost in heat with incandescent bulbs. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

I've got the ClassicCar led H4 bulbs in mine and they work great, but it will be another year before they pass through MfK. If they aren't accepted I'll switch to Noldens, but the cheapskate LED bulbs have been really good and lowering the load on factory wiring is a bonus that gives me one less thing to worry about. Hi chek! No I don't plan to use them after Easter, while legally I could. This winter tire compound is very soft and I guess will wear very quickly in regular temperature in summer, also breaking distance in summer will be increased. |

Thank you Blackwolf. As you and Darren said I will upgrade by adding this relay loom from LandReiziger ordered today. Stalk(s) will be checked and fixed this week first. I will let you which one it was. It seams pretty easy to replace them, maybe en entry level electricity job I can handle to get more acquainted with this domain. At least no risk to mess around with the airbag

Headlights issue fixed
After having first tested the main switch it turned out that the culprit was the indicator horn light switch stalk, dead. The part has been replaced by a Lucas. I have taken your advice and waiting to receive and install the upgraded headlights loom. |

Alpine road to Derborence lake - Canton of Valais
A nice road trip to a wonderful protected alpine lake and forest area named Derborence. Road is very narrow and twisty and pass through several amazing tunnels. A good opportunity to test my fixed headlights, as well as the winter tires on some early packed and icy snow. Click image to enlarge Soon the tunnels... Watch this Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Leading to a very scenic valley Click image to enlarge Light unpaved road to access the lake of Derborence Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Today the lake is already almost fully frozen. Click image to enlarge Another nice place in the area, where I had to test my new winter tires to access it Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The Defender is a very good excuse to escape on any occasion Last edited by lolo on 7th Nov 2021 9:16pm.
