With the lack of response I took the plunge and ordered the adapter plate and flywheel. Should land this week so I'll keep you posted as to it's suitability. All the best Tim

Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge All looks good so far. The 4 smaller bolts supplied are the wrong thread and I've received a bill from Fedex for import duty I wasn't expecting The starter motor bolts hold the plate off a little so I ground out the back of the plate with a dremel Click image to enlarge Ive yet to try gearbox but a quick glance at lining it up before it was attatched to engine seemed ok just need to either drill a small hole for locating dowel on gearbox starter cut out or grind it off. Click image to enlarge These are the wires going to 2 plugs on auto box which I just cut off Click image to enlarge Clutch and flywheel fitted no problems so far. Gear box will be fitted tomorrow. Click image to enlarge Sender and fuel pump from Lexus too short to fit directly so I took it apart and put fuel pump in swirl pot from defender tank. I had to change pre filter from a side mounted one to a centraly mounted one. |

Click image to enlarge Connected gear box and trial fitted transfer box today. Had to grind a bit here and there but got it to fit. Making plenty of progress
did you grind that casting because of drive flange and or prop fitment issues? I won't be encountering that same problem as I plan on using standard box... Looking good Tim. EDIT: What are you using for the pump? I'll be using something roughly 250 LPH or more and possibly external from the tank. 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

The casting from the gearbox to transfer box needed a bit grinding of the side because of clearance as I tried to slide transfer box on some bolt heads woudn't pass. Also there was a lug on M57 gearbox which needed grinding off and a chunk of the webbing too .
The pump is the original off the donor car. I heard bosch 044 is a popular pump to use. I've got to figure out linkage now. |

Very good,
linkages sound fun - Glad I've taken the easy (lazy) way out for that reason 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

My neighbour who is a classic car buff assisted me today. It fits in the gap but there's a lot to modify. Linkage is still a headscratcher engine mounts need fabricating etc etc I'll take close ups of stuff as I figure out ways to overcome each hurdle |

Hey LJ, the steering box will foul the power steering pump so I've asked Matt to make me the relocation kit like he's done. The alternator should be ok where it is, I think I may be able to use existing toyota mounts on existing land rover brackets but with a plate bolted on to sit the engine further back. The heater box is in the way a bit but I think I can melt the box with a bit of heat to reshape it a bit I've been to a buddys today who's a BM specialist and got a few different lengths of linkage from him to see about connecting gearstick. I kept radiator from Lexus which might just fit in between front wings but failing that I'll need an electric fan too. So all good fun

Good of Matt to help out - I might need the same kit but I should be picking up a donor car next week which is a GS430 and has a slightly different accessory system I think? (could be engine mounts I'm thinking of actually)
are you on a pre TD5 chassis? It would be so handy if the stock rad/ fan can fit nicely in there - fingers crossed 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

Mines an 08 puma was 2.4 . After a bit more tinkering this week it looks as though my gearbox is a bit shorter then the r380. Back of engine is really close to bulkhead with a bit more needed to get it back to line up with lt 230 mounting brackets. It's close. I'm quite suprised I thought mine was way longer and I would have trouble from the front end, having seen pics of r380. Original engine mounts on chassis look like they'll need cutting off. My initial plan to attatch plate to top of them is, I think, a non starter Looks too like I'll need to reroute the brake and clutch lines. I've took the wings off now to see a bit better and I would recommend you do the same. At least it gives you a chance to clean all the mud off inaccessible places Also look at E10 fuel lines if you plan to use it. Need you to start overcoming some problems now to help me out
