Sales of rubber hoses and Jerry cans are on the way up…….
Worth watching that documentary again, what to do in the event of a fuel crisis….Mad Max 2 I think it is called… Did notice even on the way back from Cornwall last Saturday the thieving weren’t slow in whacking the prices up. Who needs a pandemic when we have politicians and social mediocre….. I wonder how many owners of petrol cars have put the wrong grade of petrol into their tanks…… |

I did a trip Stirling to Liverpool and back last week - filled up before leaving and again on return on Wednesday, no queues then and no problem putting 60ltrs in to fill the 80ltr tank back to full. I also made sure my old 90’s tank was full last week as soon as Grant Shaps told us not to panic as there was plenty of diesel. I noticed yesterday that the village garage had a “no diesel” sign up. Good job I don’t have to travel anywhere for anything other than pleasure in the next month.
I heard on the R4 news yesterday that supermarkets are having another run on toilet rolls…………. Honestly it went crazy up here on Friday/Saturday... I popped out for some antifreeze and counted 15 stations without fuel and queues for 10s of car lengths down the road. It's all gone a bit crazy...
On the bright side the A5 past my house was much quieter over the weekend than usual, which was nice... |

I’ve spent the weekend around the west coast of Scotland, tried a couple of garages before I left as the intention was to fuel up before I left and that would’ve lasted the whole trip, but the queues were unreal. So headed for Inverness and fuelled up at a BP, no fuss, straight in straight out. Back to where I started with more fuel than I left with 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

sorry, but it's beyond me how a civilised country can get into such a state
I mean, the brexit date was known quite a while ago, wasn't it? If it wasn't for the bl*** china virus, we probably would be on holiday in the UK now, finally, only to be stranded for lack of fuel?? |

Like most things i blame the media for hyping up this into a crisis, most of us were left with little recourse but to go and fill our tanks or risk being left empty.

The fuel tanker drivers didn't suddenly disappear at the end of last week, and there were few problems up to then.
It wasn't a crisis until our wonderful media told us it was. |

Same here, I currently have two vehicles with insufficient fuel to get to work (actually it is worse, I could get to work but not home again!) and there is no fuel to be had anywhere. I do however have an HGV licence so perhaps I should take a sabbatical from work and go to drive a fuel tanker!
I blame (1) the person, presumably in government, who leaked to the media the confidential email from BP to the Cabinet - I hope that that person loses his or her job, (2) the media, which clearly is now completely free of intelligence, scruples, and any civic responsibility, and (3) the stunningly gormless mass of the British public which turns 1 and 2 from a drama into a crisis. It is truly frightening how fragile a dim-witted society dependent on social media has become. Perhaps we need another lockdown to stabilise the fuel situation.
I like this! |
