Made in China
So first they give the world C-19 now they are selling us the Lateral Flow testing kits! Just received a box of 7 kits today after attending a lunch function in Liverpool where there were 75 of us in the dining room and the bar all squeezed together. Surely we must be able to manufacture these kits in the U.K.

From day one all lateral flow tests have come out of China.
They give us the virus… then sell us a method of detection 😣

For sure why can’t we make these

There was a YouTube video of a large company in China making surgical masks immediately the virus hit - said that the company was making a fortune from covid.

Don't get me started. Now left.

Our government and UK companies have chosen outsource manufacturing and buy from China rather than support our own economy and people. British incompetence and greed is to blame, not the Chinese. WARNING.

Yep, it's a tragedy.
Last week I read that GKN automotive in Brum is being closed and their manufacturing moved to Europe. WARNING.

Consumers share the blame too!

As a business, we took it upon ourselves to never buy anything Chinese. Even the pipe fittings we use are made here in Britain. It's very difficult to do, though. We asked a supplier whom we had used for five years to verify the source, but they wouldn't, so we stopped using them. Even then, it's hard to be 100% sure. We were sent a Xmas card last year (purchased from Marks & Spencer) which was printed in China. How can that be economic - for M&S to have their cards printed in China? Even if it is, does it really save a lot of money when the UK printing sector is actually quite competitive?

I should add, though, I have a Chinese electric bike which is just great, and the UK-based retailers themselves are Chinese - and they were very good. I was impressed with their level of service. Now left.

Amazon are the pits for this at the moment

Some items aren’t even stocked in the UK now and are sent directly from China.

Product reviews are all over the place ranging from good to utter crap, some items use the same description, photographs, but different seller names (Chinese) and wildly different prices.

It was so much simpler in the seventies when all you had to worry about was whether to call yourself a punk, a teddy boy, a mod, a hippy or a rocker……….

...or Hell's Angel.
I'm 62.

Bit annoyed a few weeks back. Ordered something from Fruugo (which amazingly is British), but got an email to say (after we ordered) that it was being dispatched from China!!! Took two weeks to get here. Now left.

Saw something in a paper a while ago like this:

Quote:
The average Brit drives a Korean car to an Irish Pub to drink Belgian beer
Comes home with an Indian, or Chinese meal
Dresses in clothes from Bangladesh, Turkey or Indonesia
Sits on a Swedish sofa, watching a Japanese/Korean TV
with American programmes showing

....then complains about the economy

Sadly so true. Most whingers about the economy/nhs/british jobs are the Kia buyers who do nothing themselves to help the situation !

It comes down to what you can and can't buy. I'm elsewhere on this forum stating that I would no longer buy the Grenadier after Ineos decided to make it in France. For me, that was a big purchasing point. Similarly, the Defender is built in Slovakia. I keep toying with the idea of buying a Ibex, with one of the main reasons that it's built in Britain (though Foers don't return my emails). But there are things you simply can't buy British - like my electric bike. I wanted a folding bike. I even tried to get a UK female bicycle builder to make me one, but she wouldn't. We gave up on trying to buy a bread machine as every single one is Chinese - even the Japanese ones. Now left.

Yep, already do, we even have a message about it on our website, and ebay, and PayPal!

Fruugo looks like a British version of Amazon, which is good, but we can't figure out how to sell our products on there! We tried the process, but had to give up. Now left.

How many HSBC customers don't know what it stands for? Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. Regardless of its distribution and diversification around the world, it is still ultimately Chinese owned and its allegiance lies with the Chinese government and their stance on Hong Kong, Taiwan, minorities and dissent. If I had been one of their customers, I would have dumped them long ago.
