To be honest all the smaller filling stations around here just seem to be at a normal level of custom, I haven't seen any queues Confused Cheers Ian

Proud to say I drove PAST a Tesco station yesterday afternoon that didn't even have a queue. I have just under half a tank, which should last me about 2-3 weeks, so why should I fill up? Of course, I may not feel so proud if it really does turn ridiculous. Now left.

That's encouraging. I've got less than a quarter of a tank in my 110 and as of yesterday I couldn't find anywhere locally that had any diesel. I've got to go to Guildford on Friday and I'm hoping that things may have settled down a bit by then Rolling Eyes Darren

The only ones round here that don't have queues are the ones with cones across the forecourt! Shocked

It's how oblivious people are that makes me laugh - slagging people off for panic buying, while panic buying themselves.

A girl I know is a community midwife and she posted a picture of a filling station queue on Instagram calling people selfish.

The comments were filled with her friends saying stuff like "Yea I need to drive to Heathrow in three weeks, so I filled the car at 04:00 this morning, people are so stupid" or "My daughter is driving back to Uni next weekend, so she queued for an hour this morning, what is wrong with people" Laughing

It's like the old saying, you're not stuck in traffic, you are traffic

Anyway, I'm alright, I set up an paddling pool in the back of the truck and filled it full of diesel. What hadn't slopped out by the time I got home, should last me three months Laughing 2011 CSW XS 90

Still mad my way, today I came round a blind bend to find cars stationary at a village filling station queuing. Prior to this I am not sure I have ever seen more than one car at the pumps!. On the radio this morning I heard the lowest price recorded yesterday for fuel was £1.68p What is wring with people, how do you get into this state of mind? Rolling Eyes 1984 One-Ten CSW

This one did the rounds before someone exposed it as a fake. It was all staged, apparently. Now left.

See, you've got me started! The reason people are in this state of mind is because of the government and the media. People panic about everything, now. There's a website which lists ALL the panics going back decades from nuclear war to climate change. Remember acid rain and the Y2000 bug? When covid hit, the government and the media acted as though a sizable proportion of the public would die. UK deaths are at 136,000 and that takes into account all the wrongly-attributed deaths. If my maths are right, that's 0.2% of the UK population. Yes it's unpleasant, but you're likely going to survive it! They induce the public to panic, now, that's the default position. Look at climate change. There is NO climate emergency or crisis, not a SINGLE scientist anyone in the world says there is. It's something I know a lot about, and I'm not worried!

People are blissfully unaware of what a Carrington Event is, or the fact that another Tunguska is due. They don't seem to know that we have become a net importer of food because our population is growing at 1,200 people a day, and that if there is a major disaster, we could seriously be in food trouble. Yet they worry they will have to walk or use their bike, so they fill their tank to the brim. Or they genuinely believe in a zombie apocalypse where the dead rise up! (gov and media not to blame for that one) But most of the irrational worries lie squarely with the government and the media. ALL the worries are not anything to genuinely worry about.

Even on GB News recently, Bob Ward from the Economist sat there and said to Nigel Farage that the world rainfall and UK rainfall is increasing. No, it isn't - it is a lie. The stats are all on the net for you to read. UK rainfall is up in the past 40 years, but the trend hasn't increased. In fact, since 2014 it's downward. Global rainfall has NOT increased. And I should point out that increased precipitation would be a result of genuine climate change.

Look at Graph D in Fig 3
https://www.statista.com/statistics/584914...all-in-uk/

No increase in sea level rise.
No warming of the Antarctic.
No tropical hotspot in the lower troposphere.
Yes, we're affecting the climate. No, it isn't an emergency. Now left.
