Is that a 2.0l Defender? Maybe it's only the 3.0l (ie current models) that have gone up in value.

Mine is a 2.0ltr D240 like Mr Eleven’s so I imagine his miles must be a lot higher than mine - yesterday WBAC valued mine at £62610 - mine is the 5 seater and his is the 7 seater, I have factory deployable tow bar and electrics but WBAC doesn’t know that. I don’t have any of the styling packs on mine.

Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Mines has done 18,000 miles and has quite a lot of extras, was thinking about getting rid of mine a few months ago just because LR customer service is so bad but then theres nothing out the now that really catches my eye.

And how does that compare to your purchase price? |

I was thinking now. If you can clear £8k I would take it and sit on the cash for a while. Max out your premium bond allocation if you haven't done so already. Easy access and with £50k invested, the odds are you will see just under 1% p.a interest from the winnings (according to the Money Saving Expert calculator). Especially as you have the other vehicles at your disposal. The bubble must surely burst once the semiconductor manufacturers get back on track and new vehicle supply exceeds demand. |

Up by £2500 on the list price paid - the only extras on mine over factory spec are front bash plate, Classic mud flaps and tow bar. After purchase I’ve added the picnic table to the rear door and had the car clear gloss wrapped on the bonnet, front and both sides up to the window line which was £1900 with a paint rectification done at the time of wrapping, so if you take those into account I’m just about at break even.
Lohr500- if the bubble bursts someone is going to suffer a huge loss - dealers and the people who were mad enough to pay the inflated prices dealers are asking (but are they getting them?) and dealers who brought at high prices for used car stock. TBH I would sooner sell my old 90 as it’s now just sitting rotting on my drive it gets so little use, and I wouldn’t get a lot of money for it either from WBAC or a main dealer. Just checked WBAC for my high spec 71 plate 90 Hard Top, came out at £39618.00 thought they were a bit more punchy than that.
I've seen these selling at mid to high £60k's recently and even spotted one at a MD at £77k and that's for the 90 too: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2...amp;page=1 Makes me tempted to bail out now and find a cheapie to run around in, after all the reason I bought this van is now no longer required but it's such a great drive for what it is and cheap motoring. |

And what did you pay for it - if you keep checking back - for the first few times they seem to increase the price...
Mine went up over 6K - now 2K more than i paid and as others have said - there is extras that WBAC doe not see Mine 21 D300 HSE 2500 miles - has the Front Underguard, Side Steps, Tow Hook, Wheel Arches, Mud Flaps, E Diff and TR2.... Trouble is you sell it - what do you replace with.. Not sure how long this bubble will last - maybe a few more weeks - but could be months. My daughters Karoq - bought 2 years ago for £17500 - 3000 miles - is now 18,200 with close to 20K miles... so its ALL cars... not just expensive ones that have seen this effect.. |

I guess if there’s now a 12 month + waiting list for most new defenders it’s going to keep prices high for a while and if they’re in really short demand might make those sort of people with more money than sense to pay WAY over the odds just to be seen in one. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

I asked for a valuation for my P300 SE purchased in July 2020 and currently showing 6,800 miles.
The initial valuation from WBA last Tuesday was £57,475. This is more than I paid for the car. They’ve now just offered me a refreshed valuation of £59,615 That’s an increase of £2,140 in less than a week. |

Mine goes into the dealers this morning to have the unoptioned driver’s footwell washer repaired and they will tell me what they think it’s worth. But after going to the launch party for the Kia EV6 last Friday I don’t intend to jump ship from LR to an EV6. And I gave a 1996 90 to sell first. I would sell. I fall out of love with a vehicle very quickly when dealing with issues like you are. I pay good money and expect good service from it back.
You won’t do better than used values now. Yours isn’t a 6cyl and I feel they will take a harder knock when the prices stabilise. Wait until supply issues are over, try an Ineos and make a choice if you want to jump on the LR emotional hampster wheel again.... Alternatively keep drinking the dealers coffee and putting miles on it going to and from the workshop... 1951 80" S1 2.0 1995 110 300TDI 1995 90 300TDI |
