Having read this thread with interest I checked on WBAC - their offer is £2K more than I paid. What a strange world. Nevertheless I won't be selling. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S
Gone: Defender 90 HT 200Tdi, Discovery Sport, Freelander 2

I checked, mine was 6k down. I think the lower spec Defenders are doing well at the moment. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

The issue is if you sell it what do you buy to replace it with because seems everything has increased in price and has short supply...

No intention of selling. It’s just a blip and will correct (probably over correct) in the not too distant future.

However, my Jaguar F Type is valued at £35k. I’ve had it 6.5 years and done 36k miles. I paid £55k for it, but would never have thought it would have held its value as well as has done. I’m not using it much now, so might get rid. I do kind of like it though! 🤔 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Many Land Rover owners (most?) keep their trucks for many years, I certainly do - mine's just over ten years old.

But any new purchase has to take in the "obsolescence" factor, how many New Defenders are already on the way to being banned from cities due to their being diesel, and the engines they were introduced with not meeting current emissions standards?

Perhaps better to get rid of yours now while it's still fetching a good price and wait until reliability and quality control have improved and more appropriate power trains available?

I'm a LR fan, would have bought an entirely impractical 90 V8 had the dealer been more pro-active (I should get on my hands and knees and beg them to take my hundred grand? I don't think so... Homey don't play that!), but now intend to wait and see how the New Defender story unfolds...

We bought our D250 110 with a couple of options for £52k. It's now five months old with 4,000 miles on the clock. Just done a WBAC valuation and it's come out at £60k.

If I was ever able to sell it for a £20k profit, I'd do it. But at the moment I'm happy knowing that for the only time in my life, I've bought a brand new car and it's gone up in value!

As usual JLR Dealears are making a mockery of customers past , current and future.
And the car buying public allow them to do so.
No mass produced car should fetch over list price. Dealer or private.
Folks with more money than sense cause a “ buying frenzy “
I will buy a ND… but not until the market settles.
It will.
Many will get their fingers burnt.

I think if I was in a similar situation, I would take the profit, buy a sound old Disco for £2K OR LESS, run it for a year and then see where prices are. The price hype bubble must surely burst sometime soon.

If I could get my money back on an early 2.0 I would.

WBAC prices are crazy right now. I’m pondering getting rid of my Mercedes S350 because it just sits on the drive since I started working from home permanently (for a lot less than I paid for it).

In our position now - with the £8k profit? Or do you mean with the hypothertical £20k?

We have a BMW 1 series and a work van we could use in the meantime, so it is really tempting. It's money for nothing...
