I wonder if the “lounge” seats from the new Hyundai Ionic5 might fit into the front of a New Defender……….. they are designed for napping in while your electric car is charging. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

He's not a fan of being outside the car is he? a folding chair sat out the back combined with the classic tailgate table many of us have would be more preferable to me - and he'd have some space for an electric coolbox down the side (where his table is) holding a collection of chilled beers in it! Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

All that outside space. He’s missing out on a great camp fire Mr. Green

Back to the thread point, do you really notice the size difference of daily driving the 110 v 90 to think I’ll buy the 110 and have the camping comfort? I haven’t driven either yet so I don’t know.

Possibly not between the new 90 and 110 as theyre both pretty big vehicles. The experience I'm basing it off is going from a D4 to a TD5 90. It feels so much easier and more pleasant to drive around in. That is only size wise...in every other way it's definitely not ha.

MBurns, I’m now looking at Freelander 2 options for sleeping in. Bigger than 90 smaller than 110 and having seen some off-road videos, they seem very capable and you can pick a 2014 up for 20k at low miles. Ok, not quite as cool as the Defender but maybe one might be less precious over a new car too.

Work in progress - get 1750mm head to toe which does us fine - 1200mm wide, can be set up either as single or double. 75mm thick foam mattress. Will have basic tent/shelter for gear.

Great to see. Any top tips/avoidances when you were making it?

Cheers

Yes please. Looking forward to see how you modularised this to store and set up the bed with your kit. Thumbs Up

Nitroneil, I’m 1800mm, 50mm longer than your mattress length. Please let me know if you can gain that extra by the seats going further forward etc. Also, is that with the back seats folded down?

Thanks
Glenn

1750 is your max, seats are fully forward and tilted, rear seat bolster removed to allow seats to lay flatter BUT platform raised slightly to clear cubby box.
But I guess yes you could get taller in if your head is between front seats lol.
OR
you could raise platform more since you gain more length since seats lean forwards. I can check at weekend if 1800mm is possible.
First test is in a fortnight so will be able to tell if it works then. 90S D250 fuji and loving it.

Thanks Nitroneil. If this works then it could just be the all round flexibility I need.

Good luck with the test Thumbs Up
