2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Tonga Green

Over revving on gearchange

Hello, can anyone help me please with an issue on my Defender? It's a 2007 2.4 TDCI with very low miles. Some months ago it started flaring the revs when I change gear before they drop away. The brake light fuse is fine, I've tested the clutch sensor switch and it's working perfectly too. It only does it when driving, if I raise the revs standing still and snap close the throttle the revs drop away immediately. Had a diagnostic done, no fault codes. Can anyone suggest anything please?

Still sounds most likely the clutch switch, bypass it which on a Puma means so can simply make a wire loop to create a closed circuit. You cannot just unplug it like a TD5.
The connectors are 2 pole J.P.T. Connectors.

Beyond that VCV issues, then EGR, MAF & MAP Sensors. Most of these with the exception of the VCV do flag up codes though.

In your case I would concentrate mostly on clutch switch no1 and VCV no 2 with those symptoms.

Thanks custom90steve,

I should have said I've already looped the clutch sensor and made no difference. Hadn't considered the VCV though so that's my next intended victim. Thanks for the advice.
