I have just booked for the 90.

For last years 3 hour test drive there was a calendar showing the morning / afternoon slots that were free. This time just a box to say when was best for you. Which obviously means there might be a call to say sorry, we can do the most inconvenient day of the week at the most inconvenient time though.….. Whistle

I guess if they have employed ‘sales people’ they should be able to ask the right questions to find out if you are a tyre kicker, or have an existing vehicle coming to the end of its finance deal. Hence will base the extended drive around that……hence I booked it in my wife’s name and not mine… Rolling with laughter

I’ll let you know when I do. Thumbs Up

We've just had a D300 110 demonstrator for 4 days across a weekend, just to confirm we made the right choice, but the dealer has had our order & deposit for over 2 months Whistle

For a company with an alleged 100,000 units of back orders, and dealers saying Defenders are flying off the shelves, offering extended drives to attract buyers seems a strange move, or is it that JLR is concerned about the competition stealing market share? Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200

They offered extended test drives for 20MY with the 4 pot engines, so why not with the new straight 6, because they are night and day. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

You've just reminded me that my test drive was in a D240 FE, and I do have to say my D200 6 pot definitely sounds and feels like it pulls better. Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Same for me, I test drive a D240 4-cyl and it went well but the D200 6-cyl is worlds better. Even though it’s got less power on paper the big increase in torque makes it much more driveable and useful in the real world.

My test drive was last August and was for a morning - more than long enough to see if I liked the car.

It appears that there might be a lot of orders waiting to be fulfilled. Is an extended test drive just to tease potential buyers into ordering something that the order might be fulfilled for 6-12 months?

Folks, this isn't Dutch at all.
It's Swiss German.

Well, this happens when you decide not to be part of European Union any longer. Wink
At least there still is some hope for the Scots. Very Happy

A lot of pages to read through so apologies if I have missed it. Is the electronic active diff a must have accessory (choosing the 'off road pack with tyres and 240v socket) or not essential?

It’s highly capable without it but I suppose having it just adds that bit more. Personally I’d ditch the off road pack and just spec the tyres and the e-diff. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
