Only problem is, I can't find anywhere on the invite that tells me how long an "extended" test drive is.

How to cock up a good idea... why does it appear to be a secret?

4 years ago I got an “unlimited “ time demo of the Mini Countryman PHEV that when I signed the paperwork was actually a 48 hour test drive so I queried that it wasn’t actually an “unlimited” test drive - reply from the sales team “we’ll phone you if we need the car back for another tester after 48 hours otherwise keep it as long as you need it” I ended up with 4 days with it before they asked for it back, more than enough time to sell it to me and that’s what I chopped in a 3.5 year old 28000 mile RRS for. JLR would more than likely have got the sale of an IPace had I been offered more than a 15 minutes drive with a salesman with me by a dealership that had previously sold me 7 Land Rover products but the Jaguar showroom was a separate building across a lane from the LR side and it was like I had never crossed a JLR showroom threshold before........ same sales team as were selling Land Rover products too. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

In 2008 I bought a 2.4 Defender (still have it). It was all done over the phone. When it arrived in stock the dealer did the paper work and registered it in my name. I was then phoned and given the details so I could insure it. I picked it up a few days later, registered and insured in my name......with no money at all paid yet. Technically speaking I could have just got into it and driven it home as it was legally mine, but I paid for it. Was not a main dealer but an independent. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I also took the three hour test drive between lockdowns in a 110. Turned up, collected keys, pointed to the vehicle, on return handed keys to reception. Brilliant. Was the P300 SE, really quick. Cheers Simon

Thx for clarifying. When I first read about this malous being 30000€ for a Defender I thought nobody will buy it. Apparently this taxe is to protect French car producers! 22MY Defender 110 (actual) | 10MY Freelander 2 (history) | 15MY Discovery Sport HSE (history) |

I have just booked for the 90. For last years 3 hour test drive there was a calendar showing the morning / afternoon slots that were free. This time just a box to say when was best for you. Which obviously means there might be a call to say sorry, we can do the most inconvenient day of the week at the most inconvenient time though.….. I guess if they have employed ‘sales people’ they should be able to ask the right questions to find out if you are a tyre kicker, or have an existing vehicle coming to the end of its finance deal. Hence will base the extended drive around that……hence I booked it in my wife’s name and not mine… I’ll let you know when I do. |
