Yup. Works on any year TD5 defender.

Hi All!
I installed the harness on my '99 TD5 with ECU MSB101170. The wiring works, the NANOCOM detects that the Cruise Control is present and switched on. It also ecognize when i press the 2 buttons. The problem is that the Cruise control does not work (even though the LED and the indication on the NANOCOM come on). I encountered one thing I'd like to hear from you: The clutch contact is not detected by the NANOCOM (the contact works, I have tested it up to the ECU connector) and the NANOCOM constantly detects the Clutch Switch OFF. Could this be it? What do you advise me to check? Thanks a lot! |

Could mean the ratios are off and you may need a speedo healer.

CC will only work if the gear ratios are as they left factory. I believe even tyre size can play a part.

Understand. I never touch the ratio and the tyres are the standard 7.50 r16

Diffs, and tyres do not make any difference. The revs and the speedsensor signal have to be right. Keep pushing the speed up with a constant throttle and you will feel it takes over. Then you can take your foot of the throttle. I've just added Cruise Control to my Td5 and found the wiring diagrams commonly available online somewhat misleading. There is no need to touch the ECU pin used for the clutch switch indication as implied by other diagrams, so I've modified the one I found most useful to show what actually worked for me:
 Click image to enlarge None of my other vehicles have a cruise control master switch so I omitted that from the Defender installation. Cruise disengages if you touch the brake or clutch pedal or activate the Resume switch. One question though - the Nanocom documentation mentions this: "Cruise Lamp: The TD5 ECU has been designed to work with a wide range of possible fitments and options. Many of the input sensors and output controls can be omitted giving many vehicle option, model or market variants. This value indicates if this TD5 ECU has been programmed to drive a cruise control warning lamp in the instrument cluster or not, This should not be confused with the cruise control master on off switch lamp which merely indicates power being applied to the cruise control system." As I've got a few spare wires in the multicore used to connect the Set/Res switch (from a Discovery 2 as pictured earlier in this thread) I was wondering if it was possible to fit a "cruise active" LED. However, I don't see any dedicated ECU pin for that purpose so is the extract above referring to a code that the Nanocom can read via the ODB port? Regardless, for a total spend of ~£30 I'm pretty happy with this upgrade. It was even possible to install the wiring from the steering column housing to the ECU without removing the dashboard, so that was a bonus  |

Thanks intercept. I’ve seen the aftermarket kits but wondered if there’s functionality in the factory ECU like on td5’s that could be exploited with relative ease > 110 XS Double Cab
