I had similar on my 2015 2.2 at 6000 miles.
Dealer fixed it very quickly and easily. I could “ play” the noise with the clutch pedal. Maybe yours is the same? Described as “ thrust bearing”. Some say “ release bearing” It’s common. Many Defenders do 1000s miles with this bearing noise. Clemmo👍 Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow.... Defender 90 HT............Pangea Green BMW X3 Msport............Carbon Black Mini Electric................Grey. (wow!) MGB Roadster……..........Vermillion 17k miles Honda Benly CD200....Maroon --------McLouis Fusio........7.4m of fun |

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think this might be covered via the extended warranty? 110 DCPU Mark |

Cheers. I have read a few threads on the topic. Was particularly interested in whether this problem would or would not be covered by extended warranty? Thanks. 110 DCPU Mark |

If it’s the clutch they may just say it’s a wear item, like brake pads
Best to check the document with the warranty to be sure Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing. 5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

I believe the clutch spring issue has been covered during the original warranty period, but unsure about extended warranty. Seems to be a recognised problem.

Mine was replaced at 11000 miles at 4 years old along with the adaptor shaft, but I did have an e/mail that proved I had moaned about it at less then 3 years old and the dealer had said it was normal, the LR rep on here helped me get it done FOC at another dealers DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

Thanks
After a brief chat it ooks like it will be covered via extended warranty, assuming no wear and tear. Of course if there is wear and tear then I'll have to cover the gearbox removal and reinstatement. The labour cost, £1080 110 DCPU Mark |
