Interior lights
Hi,

Our 90 D250 HSE is at the dealers today for a couple of “niggles”.

We’ve just had a progress report so I thought I’d post this.

Have all of you checked that the interior lights can be switched from “Auto” i.e operate with the doors - to “manual” by holding your finger on the front light as shown in the iGuide? Do your rear interior lights come on when pressed? Do your front “map lights” come on when touched? Do the lights in the sun visors (for the vanity mirrors) come on?

None of the above worked on our car ( Auto works OK).

The dealer master tech has found a short in the loom caused at the factory “due to installation issues” which are being fed back to LR and the master tech (who always looks after our cars) is effecting a “permanent repair”.

Might be worth 2 mins of your time to check yours!😀👍

(And before you ask - No I don’t know where on the loom the problem is!)

Scrumps, which dealership do you use? Bristol or Taunton?

Jim,

The other Somerset one. We’re on our 11th out of 15 LR’s from the same dealer, 8 from the same salesman.

They look after us really well.

Bad experiences @ Taunton

Hi,

Update from the master tech:-

The issue with the interior lights and mood lighting is that the BCM is seeing a short to ground somewhere on the circuit so it shuts it down to prevent damage or burnt out modules. I’ve isolated this down to the roof harness and then narrowed further to the loom above the vanity lights, I’ve had to lower the headlining for access (but not remove).

I’ve repaired the harness which seems to have brought the functionality back of the lights.

Looking good for return today😀👍

Good News...

Simon,

Sorry, no can do.😀

It’s taken years of buying cars from them to build up a “relationship”.

They know my background and the quality of work I do for myself so they know the standards I expect from them.

See below for a recent project!

Is your mechanic part of a JLR dealership or independent?

Digger,

Full franchised dealership.

They always allocate the Master Tech to our cars.

As a retired engineer, I tend to diagnose problems before I bother them so they treat us quite well and crack-on and fix things.

In all the cars we’ve had I’ve never been without transport (one way or the other). When SWMBO broke a valve stem on a wheel of her D5 she phoned the dealer and they organised LRA and phoned her every 20mins till they arrived to check she was OK.
