The first time I put mine on I was staggered at the yellow tint, and the lack of power. Someone at Peterboro was selling HID kits for £89, but I have seen some on ebay for £40. I am tempted! My main beam is amazing thanks to the spots on the a bar.

Replace with Wipac clear lenses and use Osram Nightbreakers or Philips Extreme Vision.

I fitted the Phiips X-treme Power bulbs to my old Freelander and they were excellent.

Yup crystal bowls are next on my list. Halfords "extreme brilliance" bulbs (or similar) make a HUGE difference. And they're 2-for-1 at Halfords at the mo.
HID kits are illegal unless your vehicle has automatic headlamp levelling and headlight washers, which pretty much rules out all Defenders. You might get away with it if you had a self-levelling equipped 110 and fitted headlamp washers, but I think you'd be skating on pretty thin ice... |

As per Greeni and TwoPoint6
Makes a big difference now that the nights are drawing in. Also makes the car look a little more modern. The lights are made by Wipac and sold via Bolt on Bits - Devon 4x4 also do them as i guess other suppliers Good luck Mark |

I spent £70 on PIAA upgraded bulbs and they threw a whiter light but to be critical they did not throw as far so i am back to standard with HELLA Dynaview spots and it seems OK. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

extreme brilliance bulbs are excellent. as are osram nightbreakers, though the latter are more expensive for not much difference.
forget light bars, spots, all that crap, theyre not needed. |

I put a HID kit on my last 90 and although it's a massive improvement I did have problems with other drivers.
My headlights were set correctly but I did find they were so bright that with a slight load in the rear (or towing) it caused constant flashing from other drivers. Although at the time the HID kit cost me about £200 I left it in the last 90 as I didn't want the hassle in the new one. 10/10 for brightness but a pain in the bum unless you have self levelling. |

HID kit is out for me, too much hassle come MOT time. Crystal lenses and Halfords bulbs then if they are on offer I have fitted the Phillips bulbs before and they are considerably brigher for the same wattage 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top

I fitted mine with Wipac clear lenses and Osram Nightbreakers on Sunday then drove in the dark from Chester to Broadhaven in Pembrokeshire what an improvement..... I could see and so it was a much more relaxing drive, except for the wind and rain. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper
