For my restoration I bought non genuine, but have not yet installed them so cannot say how they will fit, and how hard need to shut the door to close properly. I have seen the video, linked below, and confirm that the door seal on my 2012 is a lot softer than the non genuine one.

After being bitten before buying cheap £20 door seals that proved to be next to useless, I would now only go genuine which is what I ended up doing and binned the cheapies. The difference in quality and fit is huge, but unfortunately so is the cost!
I am unable to comment though on the mid priced ones however, as I did not want to risk wasting any more money. Mike |

I researched this last year as I was fitting new door seals to my 90 to replace the 18-year old ones which were starting to show signs of old age.
Although the aftermarket ones had previously come in for a lot of bad press about being too hard, difficult to bend etc there seemed to be a consensus that the latest offerings were vastly improved. Encouraged by this I went ahead and ordered a pair of BP items at about £10 each and was pleased to find that they are indeed comparable to the genuine items both fitting well and providing a good seal. Of course I don't know if they will last as long but at a fraction of the cost they seem like a good buy to me. ONE LIFE, GET IT! |

This is interesting, as my bad experience was on my first Defender so would have been around 10 years ago, maybe the cheaper ones have improved these days

my driver’s door needed a new seal beginning of Dec 2020, researched online and read good and bad about different brands. I borrowed a genuine seal £76 which I had fitted to my mates landy at the beginning of 2020 just to try on my wagon just as a trial only on for a few minutes. Bottom line removed my mates genuine seal and fitted a Bearmach to my door £20 and TBH it fits perfect, I have OCD so I wouldn’t accept unless it fitted perfect and the door all aligned. 2016 Discovery 4 1989 90 CSW V8 (fully rebuilt and running like a dream) 1996 defender tray back fully rebuilt/loaded for challenge events |

My front and second row Bearmach seals have been fine for about 4years and are still supple. Just a case of making sure they are correctly fitted around the contours to ensure no leaks.

Thought I’d come back on this...
Bearmach seals arrived purchased @£23 Fitted today. Cold out so removed old seals leaving new ones in the warm till the last minute. Seals looked very good and fitted very well. Slightly tricky around the bends behind the check strap...but no real issue. Rubber mallet all round to check and door closed. Perfect👍😃 So I don’t know about longevity but at the price paid I’m very happy. They feel good, look good and definitely seal all round. Phew... I nearly spent £160 Atb Clemmo Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow.... I have a pair of genuine front seals I bought new from main dealer 2015 and have never been happy with them, the door takes some force to shut compared to my other Defender, and I had to adjust the strikers outwards to compensate. I might try a pair of Bearmach seals.
