The auction detail suggests it's a copy.

It's been up for sale for a very long time ~ at least since October 2019. Everybody likes to look at them, but not many buyers. Bowler built all the Spectre cars and had one from the film sitting in their garage when I visited back in 2016. So it could be. Unfortunately, with the plethora of copies, who'd ever know when you're bimbling round the countryside pretending you're Bond? On the Harrys garage video (Harry owned a genuine Spectre) he stated that none of them were road legal, he used his to bomb about his farm.

Definitely a copy... or maybe in today's language ~ a "continuation" medel:
"Prior to the commencement of filming, Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations arm had commissioned Bowler Motorsport to construct ten examples of the Defender “Spectre”; the only brief being that they should be fit for a Bond villain. Based around a Defender 110 Crew Cab, the resulting vehicles were appropriately sinister and immediately distinguishable by their Santorini black coachwork, widened wheel arches, external rollcage and 37-inch high profile tyres. In 2019, Bowler Director Richard Hayward commissioned his own engineers - many of whom had been involved on the original film project - to construct one final tribute Defender “Spectre”, and it is that vehicle offered here. Based around a correct-type 2010 Defender 110 Crew Cab, the completed vehicle featured a Stage 2 engine upgrade with improved ECU, intercooler and exhaust as well as a Bowler Fast Road Suspension kit, Bowler “Spectre” wheel arches and the distinctive 37” Maxxis Trepador tyres, mounted on the correct 16” Beadlock wheels. The vehicle’s menacing look was completed by the addition of other accessories as seen on the film cars, such as a Warn Zeon-10S winch, Safety Devices external rollcage and roof rack, LED lighting, rear deck checker plating and an original set of SVX Recaro seats. Unlike the original ten cars, this particular example is configured in right hand drive form and remains one of only a handful of SVX “Spectre” specification vehicles to have ever been road registered. Offering unparalleled road presence, incredible rarity and exhilarating performance - not to mention a brief glimpse into the murky world of Bond villainy - this remarkable vehicle is immaculately presented and ready for immediate enjoyment in virtually any environment." https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa21/pa...re/1019379 |
