Can't help wondering how Bowler and SVO will work in such a cramped/niche market.

I read something recently in Autocar mag that SVO is boggged down with orders for special SVO RRS and Jaguar F Pace SVR
That they cannot keep up so I’m sure that Bowler will be helping out. I don’t know if you are aware that there are two versions of the RRS SVR - normal ones that go down the RRS/FFRR line and then there are the custom SVO builds that have special interiors and paint finishes that get taken off the line as body in white Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Bowler to make them go properly and SVO spray them fancy colours? WARNING. This post may contain sarcasm. |

Big wheels, flash paint, leather everywhere Seems there current SUV of choice is a G63 or Range Rover in modified varieties. |

Except Special Operations already has both of those activities already, taken from their current website: "Special Operations has three distinct business units, all designed to create a portfolio of brand extending products. Special Vehicle Operations focuses on designing and engineering high specification SV-branded halo vehicles. Vehicle Personalisation undertakes luxury bespoke commissions and is responsible for Jaguar Land Rover's vehicle accessories. Jaguar Land Rover Classic is the official source of authentic cars, expert services, genuine parts and unforgettable experiences for classic Jaguar and Land Rover enthusiasts worldwide." There's more to come out on the JLR buys Bowler story... all the Bowler companies changed their names and then went into administration and the Bowler you see today, Bowler Motors Ltd is actually a name change from another company called JAGUAR LAND ROVER AUTO VENTURES Limited, which was only created last year and changed to Bowler earlier this year. Click image to enlarge Not much coming out of Bowler publically at the moment and both companies don't seen to want to mention the direct link between themselves on their websites, which seem rather glaring omissions? So what's Bowler working on? It's got it's Cross Sector Platform (CSP) offering a multi-use vehicle running chassis. This could be a real spoiler to the Grenadier if JLR wanted to go that way? |

Looking at the front of that one, it looks like it’s had its parking sensors removed. So perhaps a more off road focused front end? JLR May use Bowler as their Grenadier challenger?? May make sense with lower sales figures.

Talking of lower sales figures, it's interesting to see the volume going through Special Operations vs the money to set it up and keep it spinning:
"Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Special Vehicle Operations division retailed more than 9,500 high-performance and luxury SV products in Fiscal 2019/20, up 64% on Fiscal 2018/19." https://www.motortrader.com/motor-trader-n...20-05-2020 I also had no idea of this: " SV Specialist Centres have already launched at 100 retailer sites globally, with more to follow." |

Where did the photo come from - can you post a link. Is it an official Bowler photo, a customer in their workshop sneaking a photo or just somewhere with an old Bowler banner? |

If this turns out to be true, it's almost like JLR have had their bluff called by Ineos. McGovern probably thought his Defrender would be well received in all quarters and make the idea of a multi-modular utilitarian platform redundant. Then Ineos rock up and attract a lot of attention by doing exactly that. The problem is Bowler will never make the units necessary. So I wonder if Bowler have been bought to create (and enter) a Dakar version and add some sporting credability to the new Defender? Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Grenadier
What you suggest regarding racing is also a possibility ~ but it does seem strange that JLR didn't put Racing or Motorsports in the name of the new company as Bowler had previously if that was the intention. If there's an INEOS competitor in the pipeline, then I see Bowler as being more of a design authority and the production assembly could be done in a similar fashion to the I Pace, a business model JLR are more than comfortable with. |
