I've often toyed with the idea of buying an early Mog but never bitten the bullet. I had a 101 FC for a while and a Marmon Simca SUMB, but I think a Mog would be top trumps |

I used to have a U1200 but it's too big for laning in.
The 404 is just the job, classifies as historic so MOT and tax exempt, makes 10mpg a bit more bearable! Also great in the summer with the roof and doors off and the screen down. |

Well the Mog turns 59 this year and has just nudged over the 10,000 mile mark!
Having had it just over a year, it's only cost me £100 in insurance and is returning 10mpg. That's actually better than I was expecting when I bought it! Few jobs planned for this year. Replace the ply base on the loadbed with chequer plate as it's not lasting too well. Relocate the battery box and fuel tank on to the load bed to give it a bit extra clearance  . Maybe an animal paint job to match it's 130 stablemate....

It was swiss army reserve from 1962 to 2017 and only did a couple of hundred km per year.

Great mog,
Regarding replacing the load bed, have you considered 18mm stokbord ? https://www.solwayrecycling.co.uk/shop/farmers/stokbord. They can make non standard sizes so you may be able to have it done with a single sheet, it’s very hard wearing and being plastic based will not rot. You could even chequer plate over it knowing the substrate was solid and will not rot. Just a thought. |

The Mog also came with a log book detailing every journey it made between 1977 and 2003 and how much fuel it slurped on every fill up!
