Welcome & Defender 2.2 Puma heater problem
Hi,

First of all I would like to introduce myself. I am new to the forum but not new to Defender ownership. I have a 2005 110 hardtop and a 2015 90 Station Wagon XS.

The 90 is relatively new to me but I am slowly working through a list of repairs! Gluing the weights on the bottom of the gearstick as per the thread on the forum is the biggest improvement so far!

I have another problem with the heater blower though. When the ignition is on the 0 1 2 3 heater fan speeds work perfectly. When the engine is running 0 & 1 are the same speed, 2 increases the speed and 3 increases it further as you would expect. I am therefore unable to turn off the blower with the engine running.

Wonder if anyone has had this problem before? If so does anyone have any opinion whether it is likely to be the blower resistor or the slider on the dashboard?

Thanks

Toby

Welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

If you have air con, and the air con button is depressed, the fan will work on O. Turn the air con off and the fan should stop

Hope that helps.

I do have the aircon button pressed. I will go out later and check. It didnt even occur to me that it would prevent the fan from being turned off!

Thanks for your help!

The reason it does that is to prevent ice forming on the AC evaporator when the air con is on. With no airflow it’s possible that the ventilation to the cabin could be completely blocked off by ice. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
