Thank you, might last a bit longer now!
More galvanised bits turned up today for my new tidying up project. Click image to enlarge It’s mot and service time next week so I’m hoping the weather clears up for a while so I can put these bits on and finish some more cleaning up. They look really big, a bit out of proportion. Reminds me of Mal’s (K9F) truck. He also had those too big extra eyes blocking half the air flow. A smaller set of LED spots in that A-bar could look good though. Like below Hellas which are same size as headlight. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. I think mal had big Roos on his, mine are just standard Landrover ones? I’m thinking of sticking with the same size but getting led ones with a black light unit as I think it may look smaller, or not stand out as much. Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

While tidying up the chassis I’ve been trying to replace any rusty bolt on bits and as seems usual I’ve found the fuel filter head has broken mounting points I figured as I’m putting all this time in I may as well do the job properly so I’ve got all these bit together for the garage to stick on when it goes in for a service next week.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge A nice gore products fuel filter head with all new fuel pipe fittings and a nice new Stainless fuel filter cage (with new locking pin) so hopefully no more crusty rust in a few years And A4 stainless mounting bolts for it all to go together The chassis under the cage will also be treated for any rust and painted then eventually waxed so should last a good few years. They say to fix a problem you first have to admit you have a problem.......

There are actually four different types out of the five!!!
I originally had the metal a bar then I bought a soft one with the headlight surround bars but it had some badly repaired damage on the a frame bit. Then I managed to find a good a frame For the light surround bars so that’s three. Then I got ran into just before lockdown which damaged one of the light surround bars and I couldn’t find any new ones so insurance paid for a brand new a bar, unfortunately I’m not as keen on the bars without a cross bar so started looking for either one with just the crossbar or light surrounds and the first to turn up was without light surrounds. So that’s A metal one A soft one with damage for light surrounds A soft one with no damage for light surrounds A soft one with crossbar but no light surrounds A brand new soft one with no crossbar I’m still on the lookout for either light surrounds on there own or an a bar with the surrounds I used the one with damage to fix the one with a crossbar (but no light surrounds) as it had a nick in it. Another year and another mot passed no advisories full service and new fuel filter head fitted at the same time so when I get time and decent weather I can finish off the few areas on cleaning up the chassis. Nearly there now. Ray
