Pros:
A cool cab fast when it's hot. Cons: A stupid protrusion beyond the grille. We have it. If I bought myself a 90 PU for me, I'd go without. I'd say for a station wagon go for it. Otherwise not. |

There is a way of changing that ![]() Personally I would say it is a MUST...... Crazy thing is that I used A/C more in UK than here. Glyn ![]() ![]() |

Came as standard on my XS, but if I had a County spec I'd happily blow a grand on it as an option for comfort really.
Probably the best aircon I've ever experienced out of all the vehicles I've had. It's ice cold very quickly... so much so my passengers normally winge!! Don't have any noticeable power drain either. Then again, given the extremes Defender is built for it's no surprise it's a bloody good system. ![]() |

a pro for the air con is,
air con on blowers on full heated screen on = reduced tickover, something like a 14% drop in power |

There was a thread on this about 3 months ago Paul when I asked the same question.
Based on the advice given I ordered A/C on mine and I'm very glad I did. I have found that the Puma heats up inside from engine and transmission heat - the floor gets fairly warm and normal ventilation wouldn't be very effective particularly as it feels as big as a high roof van inside ! The A/C system is also very efficient in this car. we have had a couple of days wher its been 24 deg outside and even getting in after parking in sunshine - with the interior like an oven it cools it down very fast. Even on the lowest setting you still have to switch it off now and again as its bloody freezing ! It also has very little effect on fuel consumption in my experience. I was originally very tempted to not bother specifying aircon but in retrospect had I not I would have regretted it very much as it would be an uncomfortable drive for a good part of the year. So IMHO leaving it out could be a false economy |

I suppose I should repeat what I said in your other thread...
... basically yes it's worthwhile. Are you related to Zag? ![]() Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |
