I texted my salesman about September launch for the 90 and he says the 90 is going on a UK tour from September. No dealer stock cars but there will be one or two touring the UK just like the 110 did. So that explains why some dealers have info and some don’t as not all dates are released yet.
Just appeared on the LR website, 90 & HardTop preview event. https://www.landrover.co.uk/vehicles/defen...views.html |

You can now book the 90 tour with your dealer on the LR site.

I think comparing old 90 to new 90 with respect to the rear seating arrangement is not really relevant.
Old 90 seating had to fit within the constraints of a design that was defined in 1948. With new 90 and 110 come to that, the designers had a clean sheet. Given the overall size of new gen Defender, I am shocked at the lack of practical load space in the 90 with the rear seats in place and when the 3rd row of seats are deployed in the 110. As I think someone mentioned in another post, it seems as though the designers forgot everything they had learned from the D3 internal design and layout. |

Don’t forget that the New 90 is only 6cm shorter overall at 4.58cm than the Old 110 At 4.64m, and old 110 could seat 5 easily and have a boot load of stuff, New 90 can seat 5 in comfort but there is no space left for luggage other than a Couple of supermarket carrier bags. New is also much wider at 2.10tm compared to the old one at 1.79m

The fact you can't fit large dogs in the back rules me out from owning a new 90 or 110. However I can't wait to see a 'New Defender and Dogs' thread on here. Teacup dogs have been horribly under-represented on Def2.

The ruling on this may well have big implications for the commercial variant: The BVRLA (@bvrla) Tweeted: Court ruling confirms that Combi vans are to be treated as cars for P11D purposes @HMRCgovuk #vehicletax https://t.co/RCZoJOy4rv https://t.co/e2gD3JwKuf https://twitter.com/bvrla/status/1296519265332469763?s=20 Actual ruling: https://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/2020/889.html It's nigh on impossible to extract a few sentences to sum up, but "the application of the test as to whether a particular vehicle is a "goods vehicle" for the purposes of section 115(2)" and whether "the car was not "constructed or adapted for use . . . for the conveyance of goods" with the conclusion that "" . . . It seems to me that, by the conjunction of the words "constructed or adapted," the definition is really saying "originally constructed or where the structure is subsequently altered." Immediately one says that, the question arises whether it can be said that the structure of the vehicle in the ordinary sense of the word has been altered, or whether the structure remains the same, but that some small fitting or attachment is made which, although it physically involves making small holes for screws in the structure, could not in any ordinary sense of the word be an alteration of the structure." |

reading that though I took both of those vans to have been modified away from the original "combi" and were obviously geared more towards providing more 'car perks'..............

The 110 for its size has a pretty poor load space, so my thinking with the 90 is by folding the rear seats (I don’t use the rear seats much) and fitting the load space retention net my 2 dogs will have plenty space.

There's certainly a lot of detail, but I thought the point in my earlier post was pertinent to the commercial model, where it is easy to see that it's a passenger version with a few non-structural additions? ![]() |

Is there much to be gained by whipping the seats out altogether? |

It’s a possibility. I’m still tempted by the 90 commercial.

If there is little difference in purchasing cost between the commercial & SW versions, best consider which would have the best resale value - I'd have thought the sw would retain more?

I think financially the SW makes more sense.

If your a business then the actual TAX / VAT designation makes a huuuge difference.......currently the 'classic' Defender can only be run commercially in 90 HT form, a SW would attract company car tax and be non VAT qualifying |
