Anyone buying the 90 and intending to use the rear seats should definitely not option the square panel thing, as it almost completely blocks the rear passengers view. I would go so far as to say it would devalue the car (compared to same without).

I prefer the proportions of the 90, but it's a shame there is no opening rear side window option - my dog would not be happy not being able to stick his head out with his tongue flapping in the wind.

Maybe they should offer a Freelander1 style drop down tailgate window for dog owners. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

You mean like Snoopy Flying Ace, but a 90 replacing the red doghouse?[/img] Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

He's not a Great Dane! Laughing (Just a daft Pointer cross).
Drop down rear door window would be something, but not as good as seeing a refection of the dog's face peeling off his skull in the door mirror, like Clarkson driving that Atom!

90 is much better proportioned.

That's interesting - I was thinking the opposite. It's all bonnet and doors with proportionally not enough length behind the B pillar.

I’m with you on that! If the door was shorter i think it would look ok but the doors as they are make the rear quarter look too short.

The new Defender is odd proportions, not really sure why. It was one of my comments in my review on how long the bonnet was and how far away you are from the front of the vehicle.

To reinforce this, it is interesting that a Discovery 1 has a shorter wheelbase and has a shorter overall length than the new 90. But Discovery still seems like a large vehicle and capable of having two rows of doors and a large boot area.

In 3 door guise it makes you wonder how JLR have managed to make the 90 so big, yet with such a small interior.

    Discovery | 100" | 178.7"

    New 90 | 101.9" | 180.4"

From the photos above, you'd think the new 90 is much smaller than the Discovery, not 2" longer!

it's not 2" longer - wheelbase is not the overall length.

Disco 1 is 300mm (1 foot) longer in overall (body length). Rgds.

I think I’m going to stick with my original plans and take the 90. It’s the one I keep being drawn towards. Who needs practicality anyway.

If this had been badged as a Discovery you could say that it was a logical redefining of the origional. Shape wise it has more in common with the early Discovery which I think still looks very well. I am not knocking the new Defender but it does seem to have more DNA in common with the Discovery. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I think almost everyone Would agree that the new Defender would have made an excellent replacement for the Discovery 4. Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

Figures are from Wiki. Although I did think afterwards if they included the spare wheel or not. Do you have some figures for reference? Thanks.
