What a completely useless reply above from someone trying to be clever.

You won’t find a repair piece for the late door due to its construction so you will either have to utilise the above repair piece and modify it, or weld up the original. I have repaired lots of late doors now with this problem.

The doors almost always crack by the door lock button position due to the striker plate being misaligned or the plastic sleeve wearing. This causes the door to need to be slammed harder to get it to shut correctly, which when slammed from the inside using the interior handle causes the upper section of the door to eventually crack. The X eng “X trouser” striker plate goes a long way towards preventing the doors from cracking as they have done away with the plastic sleeve that fails.

also caused by knackered hinges pushing the door out of alignment for the striker

Thanks for this! Much appreciated.

So these are the cracks in mine, would you weld that in your experience or buy the aforementioned panel and weld either side?

Either way, I can't weld so I'm going to have to take it somewhere to be repaired, just trying to source everything I need to make it as painless as possible...

And this is the upgraded door striker you mentioned too, correct?

Easily repairable. I have a late door with exactly the same damage I mig welded up in 2008 and it is still fine now, I’ve done plenty since.

If that was presented to me with door card removed it would be a 20 minute job to sort out. It is not visible when door card on so just needs weld bead painting, no need to worry about making it invisible, It can be done with window in situ just covered over to prevent splatter marks.

Perfect! Thanks. I'll take them to a welder as they stand if that's the case.

I also ordered the X-Trouser door strikers too, as the plastic was worn on my OEM ones. I learned that they're designed not to hook on your trousers too, hence the name! Mind blown.

Saved a set of corduroys for me there
