Anybody know the specs for the OEM one?
Looking for a stainless steel comparator ~ here a stainless steel D Shackle, take the loop (d) at 16mm and you get a SWL of 3 tonne. Safety factor, for the purposes of this conversation, would have to be assumed in the range 4:1 to 6:1. So in theory it does not seem to rule itself out on first examination. https://www.gsproducts.co.uk/stainless-ste...-shackles/ |

At 6:1 that would give you 18,000kgs for the stainless Shackle.
The bolts on the OEM eye looked to be about M12, so x 4 per eye might be 19,560kgs. Again, fag pack calcs, but it puts you in the right ballpark. Actually, on reviewing a video I thought the bolts were actually 10.9, so x4 per eye would be 28,000kgs Click image to enlarge Last edited by Supacat on 6th Aug 2020 5:33pm. Edited 1 time in total |

On my Velar it’s 2 years or 21,000 miles, I assume Defenders the same.

Cheers on the tyres, they are a little mouser than the All Seasons but fuel economy seems unaffected. Servicing is 2 years or 24000 miles or when the service indicator shows if in heavy going use. Naks, something you could tell me - in your RRS do you have TPMS? If so is the pressure for the spare wheel very high? I got a low pressure warning on my new spare duratrac and when I looked on the dash the recommended pressure was 50psi, around 3.5bar. I nearly burned out my portable compressor trying to inflate it that high, glad I didn’t have to use a foot pump! My Defender is 'Carbon Edition' as well, it even produces carbon itself and spit it through the exhaust ... Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel. |

Tim i hired a D5 in the UK in February and the TPMS was showing the spare was low, yet when we checked it, it was around 40 PSI.. I asked a dealer and they seem to suggest i should just ignore it yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

My D5s spare is set high it started warning me of low pressure 3miles away from dealer collection. I had to bump it up to the high 40s to shut it up. It’s on the snag list for 1st service to see if they can lower the preset value. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Yes, I do, but I've never seen the pressure nor any warnings for the spare. Now that you mention it, maybe my spare doesn't have the TPMS? I think it's a common practive to over-inflate the spare, because it will lose pressure over time, and you don't want to be replacing a burst tyre, only to find that the spare is flat. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |
