I am not sure the classic Defender owner "nay sayers" have been heavy on decrying the new vehicle's offroad ability.

Just everything else......

If they changed the badge to Discovery, I am sure that most of the criticism would go away.

^^^ Yup. For me it’s almost entirely about the looks and the heritage that’s been discarded with the swish of a pen. But it’s also the clear change in target market and elevated price point which change the ‘essence’ of the Defender, and in my eyes pointlessly so as the range has more than enough hi-spec suv style models to keep non Defender owners happy. Pre 2016 JLR offered Luxury SUVs (RR and RRS), mid priced 50/50 road/off-road capable SUVs (Discovery and Freelander), and a fully utilitarian vehicle (Def). Now they simply have 7 SUVs in various guises and finishes, but even the most basic are priced (and sometimes spec’d) at the low luxury price point. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Indeed, I quite like the new Defender and as a previous owner of a D3 and if I wanted a D3 replacement then I’m sure I would consider one, however if I wanted a vehicle to replace my Defender then it wouldn’t be the 2020 one, I’d be more than likely waiting to see what the Grenadier would be like as it’s more than likely going to be the nearest thing to a Traditional Defender but hopefully better built.

Just posted a new thread in the wheels and tyres section from PowerfulUK using their L663 Defender to explain wheel offset and showing the damage that they have done to their car using the incorrect offset wheels......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Regarding the recovery rings, I’ve just had this from Becci @LRCS

Hi Tim,

Thank you for providing further details.

I have taken the opportunity to investigate this further and can confirm that part number LR139442, is available and compatible with your vehicle.

The details have been passed to the Parts Department at XXXXXXxX Land Rover for them to contact you directly and look to order the parts.

When ordering the parts the retailer will need to ensure that they remove your VIN as we believe this is causing the concern with ordering the part on their system.

Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to email me on jlrcrcsm@jaguarlandrover.com, ensuring that your Vehicle Identification Number is in the subject line.

Thanks,

Becci – Land Rover UK
