United Kingdom 1998 Defender 110 300 Tdi SW Bronze Green
Rubbed down the ARB winch bumper, epoxy primed the thing, then two gloopy coats of hammerite satin black. Also repainted the wolf mirror arms and the rear ladder.

Not the neatest paint job, but a darned sight better than it was Wink Dave

Im after the type that fits behind the towball, and suitable for towing a caravan. I'd like one that supports the bikes by the wheels, but im not sure they make one for towing as well. Think the one I need is this one..

my bike rack looks just like Greeni's but its black, strong bit of kit but you cant tow with it and cant open the back door.
I can fit 3 bikes on it with the spare wheel in place. Pendle also do ones that support the bike from the top and still allow you to tow (as long as the trailers bar is pretty long, Im happy though as this is a gret bit of kit.

I brought it following greeni's advice and am not dissapointed, I will be off to cannock chase next weekend to use it in anger DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Bike rack
If you're after a bike rack that supports the wheels and you can tow with, then I can recommend this one from Fabbri:

It's obviously shown on my Freelander but I've also used it on our DII and towed our caravan with it. I chose it specifically because it suports the wheels rather than the frames, and it's very solid. Not cheap and only two bikes, though.

Thanks LRA Thumbs Up. Unfortunately I dont keep my spare wheel on the rear door, and Fabbri dont seem to do une that fits behind the tow ball. I currently use this one from Thule, but need to change it for a towing model...

Shame, you could have bought a kit from the international security register - www.retainagroup.com - their web site is a bit tricky but they are easy to talk to. their etching system does glass and body panels (doors, bonnets etc) did mine a few weeks ago, including mirrors and led light fittings

Their website looks very smart with some neat looking products, but there aren't any prices Rolling Eyes Can you give us an idea? Do they come to you or do they have agents?

As an aside, I'm always slightly wary of commercial organisations that set themselves up to appear as somehow 'official' like the 'international security register'. Sounds like something managed by Interpol. Having said that though, Retainagroup have been around for a long time and do seem to have a good reputation, so perhaps they've just let their marketing people get the better of them.

@BPMan..... Yes, Retainagroup look good.... In hindsight, wishing I'd gone down this route.. Sad Still, some security etching is better than none Smile

@LRA.... I just contacted them out of interest and they tell me it's a one off charge of £24.95 for the DIY kit (not sure if they add P&P to that). I paid about the same for my kit and of course it's not registered to a database... so seems like a good deal for better security Smile

Edit - Thinking I might buy the Retainagroup kit as well Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.
