It's difficult to say exactly, but the rear seats in a Puma (both 2nd and 3rd row) are bloomin' heavy, so I'd definitely say that there will be a net gain by removing them. Darren

"Van' (actually light goods vehicle) speed limits never apply to DPVs, that was the point of the introduction of the DPV classification. The issue is whether any variant of the new Defender can be made light enough to meet the maximum unladen weight restriction of the DPV legal definition. |

I had wondered about the 40kg bit but not connected the dots. I was thinking that if they went to the trouble of introducing a new SI in 1986 then there should have been consultation (following the normal current review process) and the weight threshold was part of that process then. I haven't looked anything up but it would be interesting to see what vehicles actually sat in this class back then. |

I struggle to understand with variant. The model was created to chase volume and yet the selling line on it is “a unique combination of cargo space, practicality and comfort”.

Perhaps a standard Euro pallet will fit in, but as the Powerful video demonstrated, what looks to be a UK dimension pallet won't.

An early example was the 80" Land-Rover. A little further reading makes me thing that the DPV definition was introduced around 1948, when there were differences between private cars and commercials in terms of speed limits (commercials limited to 30mph I believe), purchase tax (paid on cars not commercials), and fuel (there was both red and white petrol then). There are exchanges recorded in Hansard from this time raising the incongruities and pushing for change, and I think the change was the DPV classification. |

It’s always been rumoured that the 110 would get coils. Coils knock about £2k off the price plus it’ll save weight. |

I think I'd still option air over coils though. But without specific pricing it's hard to make that decision. I was told back before the dealer launch that it would be on coils as standard and air would be an option.
