The Mysto's look great GREENI Thumbs Up

I have joined the Anglers afloat forum which is the main SOT forum Thumbs Up I have asked many "Zaggist" questions as MOG puts it and the guys have been very helpful - lots of good tips Wink Which way up does it go again Thud

I have a roof-rack thread on it at the moment as mine is heavy and obviously it's high to put on a Defender. I have bought the straps available as they are easier to use than ropes or ratchet straps and instead of buying any rack gadgets to get your boat up, I am simply going to get a rod to fit in one end of the Thule bar so it extend out, lift one end of the kayak up onto it then lift the other end up - easy & cheap Thumbs Up but have a butchers at the thread you might prefer some of the other options - caravan steps to gain height, lifting arms etc etc. Quite a few Defender enthusiasts on there also - have fun Thumbs Up

How do you get it off? Single handed? The reason I ask is that I have to get mine off by myself, and hence I put it on from the back and slide it up. I've fitted a rubbing strip at the back of the roof to stop wear. I'd like your view.

I've now got my kayaks Cool
I'm just going mount them on top of the SD rack...I was gonna hack into the front of the rack so they could stand on the side, but decided that would be sacrilege Twisted Evil
I just need my BA's to turn up and I'll be a kayak beginner Mr. Green

I am lifting it up from the side at the moment but as said in a previous post an extension rod can be fabricated or bought for £50 so you can rest one end on it first then simply lift the other end up. You can also buy rollers to put on your roof bars to push it up from the back. Here is a link to the Anglers Afloat forum that is the main site for SOTS and link to various roof rack solutions and products Thumbs Up http://anglersafloat.proboards.com/index.c...read=17338

Lots of good ideas for SOTS Thumbs Up This one in particular http://www.northwaleskayakfishing.co.uk/id112.html Thumbs Up

Laughing

Can't wait to get out on the water next week. I'm hoping to do a 2-3 hour paddle up Chichester estuary where the yacht can't go and then a toddle down the estuary in the boat - I'm hoping to tow the Kayak behind the boat but maybe easier to haul it on deck. A few people use Kayaks for tenders and I'm sure I've seen pictures of electric outboards fitted to kayaks... Very Happy
