Use some silicone/RTV as well. Helps keep them on and more water/airtight Instagram @defender_ventures

If you drill, make sure you first paint that new bare metal. When all dry, you can also spray some Dinitrol into the door bottoms and upward.

Thanks to all, the new seals are all on. They went into the existing holes pretty much perfectly, just a couple that needed to be re-done but a perfect fit and much better

The white clips are pants, mine lasted a year or so (door threshers don't help) so I marine sikaflexed em on, no more dramas.

Hi,
I'll keep an eye on them and take measures if they snap off! I did put a bit of Sikaflex in the holes beofre pusing the clips in. Cheers! |

Yeah, that's what I did, problem is when they fail it allows the seal to move and they end up getting mullered like mine are - just a word to the wise

Hi,
After successfully getting the new seals on OK I took off the door cards to clean everything up inside, add more soundproofing and dinitrol the inner doors. All that is done, all nice and clean BUT: I have got the door card back on OK apart from I cannot get these two last rivets in, they are at each top and bottom corner and are a plastic rivet type thing. How to do I install these correctly, I seem to remember seeing somebody hit one with a hammer, but that can't be right, do I need to install as per a normal rivet, ie with a rivet tool? Any help appreciated before I start the other door!

If you're using new ones, stick it all the way into the hole and then give the sticking-out stem a sharp tap inwards (a hammer used sensibly does well) to snap the pin into place.
If you're reusing the old ones, the stem is free (and will have fallen out somewhere in the door when you pushed it through, so you'll either have to find it or find something to use as a pin instead - a short length of fencing wire works well). In this case, push the rivet part without the pin all the way into the hole, squeezing the legs as required, then carefully insert the pin or pin-substitute until it is flush. An alternative if you're reusing the old ones is to use a machine screw in place of the pin, I think I used an M4x10mm pozi pan screw last time, but I can't remember the diameter for certain. Get the right size and it will screw in and stay put, and has the advantage that you can unscrew it if you need the door card off in the future. |

Thank you. I have a few new ones, so I will tap them in. I didnt want to do this without advice as I don't have many so didn't want to be left without. I got a set of the other ones too but they all came off in tact, I used the proper trim removal tools so maybe that helped! If all else fails I will get a screw!! Once again, thank you |
