Quick release fasteners
Looking for some quick release fasteners to attach my number plate to my D44 brackets on my winch bumper.

Size is 10mm to max 12mm diameter.

Tried google but not found a lot so far.

Any ideas ??

Some possible solutions include

Bolt through mounting plate and a wing nut

As above but R pin instead of wing nut.

Cotter spill and pin

Trailer side type fastening pin

hi Bob,

in Switzerland they use a quick release frame for number plates, I have also seen these on french cars, you might try googling that ...

like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-German-PAIR-...2ea8f48a4e

i have also seen number plates on lorries held on with drop catches like on the back of a defender pickup

cheers

what about Pip Pins ( trade name. also known as Ball0 Lock pins)

They're really good. We use them for all sorts in the aviation industry...

Thanks all.

I think the Pip Pins are the way to go or the drop nose pin depending on what I can get in the size I need.

We used to use similar quick release pins on rope walkers used in SRT/prussiking when caving. They had a much larger 'head'/flange to place two fingers behind. Chain to ensure we did not loose the pin. Very strong. Thought the trade name begun with an 'A' but could not find them on google as I was probably not wording my search right.

Dzus Fasteners
Used prolifically in the aviation industry 'Dzus Fasteners' would be absolutely ideal for the type of application you want them for.

For example:

http://www.southco.com/class/ny-wg-wp-dzus...-7522.html If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

Thanks Paul.

I forgot about the fixings for my DC canopy and they will do the job - I have removed the canopy Thumbs Up

Whilst researching I came across these SS clevis pins as well, ordered some for another little job.

K9 - the Dzus would be great as well so if the canopy pins fail I will move on to them Thumbs Up
