hi Bob,
in Switzerland they use a quick release frame for number plates, I have also seen these on french cars, you might try googling that ... like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-German-PAIR-...2ea8f48a4e i have also seen number plates on lorries held on with drop catches like on the back of a defender pickup cheers bp |

what about Pip Pins ( trade name. also known as Ball0 Lock pins)
They're really good. We use them for all sorts in the aviation industry... http://www.prifast.co.uk/89_pin.htm |

Thanks all.
I think the Pip Pins are the way to go or the drop nose pin depending on what I can get in the size I need. Bob |

We used to use similar quick release pins on rope walkers used in SRT/prussiking when caving. They had a much larger 'head'/flange to place two fingers behind. Chain to ensure we did not loose the pin. Very strong. Thought the trade name begun with an 'A' but could not find them on google as I was probably not wording my search right.

Used prolifically in the aviation industry 'Dzus Fasteners' would be absolutely ideal for the type of application you want them for.
For example: http://www.southco.com/class/ny-wg-wp-dzus...-7522.html If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! Last edited by K9F on 10th Aug 2011 4:50pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Merlin Motorsport have a good selection of both Pip Pins and Dzus Fasteners -
http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/FASTENER...index.html You can also get Dzus Fasteners from Land Rover, they're used for the front edge bulkhead fixing for the soft top on Truck Cabs, Double Cabs and Hi-Caps - Click image to enlarge Callouts - #18 = AAU2367 #19 = AFU2503 #22 = AFU2504 . Thanks Paul.
I forgot about the fixings for my DC canopy and they will do the job - I have removed the canopy Whilst researching I came across these SS clevis pins as well, ordered some for another little job. http://www.boneham.co.uk/clevis_pins.htm K9 - the Dzus would be great as well so if the canopy pins fail I will move on to them Bob |
