Just the sort of detail I'm curious about.

Couple of good things came to mind;

1. The DPF is close-coupled.
2. Just how much of it is made of alloy.

I'm thinking we were looking at the petrol variant, P200?

Well, looks like you can get rid of the coloured panel

If you prefer clips, or screws exposed.

Bit like the Disco 5 boot. You spend tens of thousands buying a factory-perfect car, only to have to pay a couple of hundred/thousand more to make perfecterer..... Whistle

As for the underbody shots on the previous post, McGovern has so clearly missed the one of the key essences of the Defender: discomfort. Why on earth have they put a heat shield and cover on the exhaust. Surely if you’re keeping some of the character of the original you need a hot cabin, hotter footwelll and even hotter handbrake lever. Laughing Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

I was surprised you needed so much heat shielding, given the air gaps and wonder whether it's going to stand up after a few times in the mud and grunge?

YES, you hope that they tested it in 70 degree Celsius conditions as that is what Black road surfaces can get to here is Australia the USA and I assume parts of Africa. That coupled with a hot exhaust and the new cat converters may explain why all the shielding is required?

It seems to me that there is an awful lot of underbody places that will will become packed solid with dried mud and gunge on vehicles which are actually used off-road, which will not be good either for maintenance or corrosion.

I assume that the black servomotor on the rear calipers is the motor for an electric handbrake, something else that I would prefer not to have on an off-road vehicle.

I agree Blackwolf.
It does look like a mud trap on wheels. And what on earth is wrong with a good old fashioned mechanical handbrake, especially on an off road vehicle?
I guess many will be acquired through PCP or other fixed term leasing schemes and handed back at the end of the lease period. So owners won't be thinking about long term maintenance, reliability, corrosion or ease of servicing.
