What is the purpose of this hose?
Just looking around my engine bay today, doing a few checks and I found this :

It goes from my air filter to a valve which I think is a vaccumn supply to my egr valve (which I have removed a while ago). On this valve there's also an identical hose to the above that runs to the brake servo? Why would there be one to the brakes? What purpose does it serve? Do I need to put the broken hose onto the valve to ensure any vaccumn supply for the brakes is not hindered?

Hope you can clear it up for me![/img]

It is off the EGR system. I expect yours has been removed. All the ones I have removed I have pulled the redundant elbow out of the rubber intake hose and bunged up the small hole with some black Sikaflex / Carbond.

With the brake servo hose I used to order the genuine straight hose from the non EGR 300tdi 90 and fit that instead of the one you have with the Tee off. You can blank it with a small screw but it looks bodged, the genuine hose used to only be a couple of pounds.

Thanks for your help! Very informative. Yes I removed the egr about 18 months ago but at the time I blanked the egr vaccumn hose off with a bung. The hose in the picture actually has broken off the valve modulator which is what I found. Found the part number for that non egr hose ANR2783 if anyone is searching in years to come!

What does the line to the brake servo actually provide though?

I've been looking at replacing my hose with the ANR2783 part but they're crazy expensive.... like £80/£90 expensive.
