Hi,
My "fun" for the last 45 mins or so has been trying to fit a one piece superpro bush into the top of the rear shock.... It's the 'standard' superpro bush for this location on a Defender, but I have Old Man Emu shocks.... are the two compatible, or do OME shocks have a bespoke/proprietary bush? Basicially trying to figure out if I'm trying to do something that's not possible? They look they would be compatible IF I could get the bush in, but that's just not happening. I don't have a press, but I am using a vice and the outer diameter of the bush just will not slot into the shock. Any advice gratefully received... Well, in case anyone else wonders and wanders this way, I'll answer my own question.
The eye at the top of the Old Man Emu shock is quite a bit smaller than the standard one. I'd estimate about 8-9mm in overalll diameter. What a pain. I think it would be a good idea to highlight and call out the brands that do this. Yes, there's an argument that one should check - but for something like this they should just use what's standard. I know OME is a brand I won't buy again, on this basis. OK, rant over. ![]() The difference in size is just too much to get the bush started into place. I even thought of a jubillee clip to compress it down a bit, but that didn't work either. Going to see if I can get OME bushes separately as a first solution, then see where I go from there.
