Ford Genuine is ideal, as your Defender like mine was a Ford motor and it IS acceptable in this instance to use Ford parts.
There is no compatibility issues with the LR system in this instance. If you use the 'Search' function in the bar above, you will likely find more info on this. I have even put up the P/N you are looking for. Trying searching 'MAF and MAP Sensors' you should be able to find it. I use Holts brake cleaner, both will work.

I just ordered a new one off of eurocarparts they currently have a 50% sale with free delivery i think it cost about ยฃ45 for the new one
