Used to get the whole ignoring being stopped when doing road works etc for the leccy board - usually BMWs. I used to man stop/go boads sometimes, stepping out in front of them was only way to make them stop and not plough into a cherrypicker or whatever. It would be interesting if one did just run through to see what the law said in the event of an accident, as they would probably be found blameworthy and responsible for the lot.
As to "why is he reversing into the road anyway" he may not have a lot of choice due to the location he has to access. Idiots ignoring traffic management (which is what it is) are putting themselves and others at risk, and would be liable... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Fair enough, although I think we are talking are cross purposes here. Of course people should wait at stop/go signs or when work is being done at the side of the road or heavy kit is manoeuvring. Normally the guy will get a wave from me as he is helping us both out. My gripe is the guy seeing his mate out of a tight drive into a quiet road, his "job " is to guide the driver and stop him if a car comes along not put his hand up and stop me. Seems to happen quite a lot over here |

Must have big driveways over there if you can get lorries onto them. To be honest sometimes the traffic is just so heavy you have to stop the flow. Worst still is pedestrians who will climb over or move cones and barriers to get through - I have had to pysically stop people before and tell them to look up, only then do they see the huge bit of steel held up by a crane. Even then some don`t see what they have done as wrong or dangerous. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Vacuous middle aged blokes doing the boring old "terrible BMW drivers" line.
Have you not got anything original to say? Clearly not. Do thrive on ten year old jokes? It would appear so. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

I doubt they would say it unless there was some genuine validity to their comments Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

EFA Quite a few BMW owners on here, me included. The image put me off for many years so the current one is my first. I've seen bad driving in all marques (I notice BM bad driving more now I have one) - and none are particularly worse than any others. The main offenders are: Angry reps in small engined "prestige" cars - this includes small engined BMWs but also Audis and Mercs. Angry dads trying to prove something while the wife and kids are at home in MPVs. Small van drivers thinking they own an F1 car. VW Transporter drivers - thinking their fairly nippy (for a van) vehicle is in fact a hot hatch. Elderly people that can hardly see or react. Superbike riders who think they are immune to crashing. The BMW bashing is simply tiresome and suggests some deep seated issues - I see bad driving in all makes from Perodua to Porsche, Fords to Ferraris. Just done a search on BMW Drivers cos I'm REALLY bored and to dig into this BMW owner hating business a bit. WOW there is a lot of ill feeling against BM drivers
BMW owners regarded as worst drivers poll says http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/mo...74852.html Why are BMW driven by idiots http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index...954AAHRwv5 Telegraph says BMW drivers are angriest on the road http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8...-road.html I won't carry on but WOW that's got to hurt sales, It must have helped Audi take over the BMW spot but then they are gaining/got the same image now i think. Would never happen to a Kia though THERE is EVEN a DEDICATED FORUM - BMWSUCKS.COM http://site.bmwsucks.com/category.php?lice...mp;ID=1845 Last edited by Zagato on 18th Jul 2011 9:42am. When ever I'm being tailgated it's almost always by a German car, not necessarily a BMW.

Criticism should be directed at the type of driver not the type of vehicle - I know many well mannered white man van drivers The planet would be a much friendlier place if human nature didn't lend itself to generalisations. Bloody Taxi drivers

I agree that there is bad driving across all marques and LR/RR are not exempt from that either. The rapid increase of BMW sales in the last ten years or so means that there are just so many of them out there, which of course increases the chances of you seeing somebody being a knob in one. Wouldn't take it so personally DOTE. I don't believe anyone is holding you solely responsible for the general reputation of BMW drivers For as many people on here that bash BMW's, there are probably also as many that would bash the stereotypical Disco owners/drivers. I believe you are one of them. Does that mean you have deep seated issues too ? Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

Of course I have - don't we all? BMWs problems is that they sell a fairly aspirational brand. Therefore Jonny the middle manager from Milton Keynes finally works his way up the company car list to a 320d (BMs best selling car I think?). Despite the fact that's it's just a four pot soot chucker, Jonny thinks he's made it and drives in a manner befitting such a class of citizen. This tars the entire brand. Then there's the older models accessible to chavs- again the brand gets a battering. It happens with Audis, Mercs, all sorts but I don't feel the need to bash them. As for Discos - I have not bashed those that drive them. I just said I don't want one in response to yet another post (on a DEFENDER forum) telling us how superior they are - an important difference there.
