If all you are doing is the VCV (volume control valve) you don’t need to do the pilot correction, I think that’s to do with the injectors. You can do the fuel pump learn if you want, but the car will do it itself over time anyway.
I replaced my VCV did nothing and it drove perfectly. I did do a pump learn a while later with a Nanocom and it made no difference as far as I could tell 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

Thanks Bluest Thats just what I wanted to hear. I would not be bothered too much about paying for a relearn as long as the motor will get there.

I have just read that when changing the VCV it is also advisable to change the Common Rail Sensor.
Would that need a relearn or is it a fit and forget? |

I don't know where you read that, but I have replaced several VCVs over the last 245,000 miles and never have I replaced the sensor or the PRV. So my advice would be don't, unless you like giving money to parts suppliers!

JST go to the Land Rover Workshop site. Looking at the diagrams find the part and part number and you will see a list of suppliers and prices. I find the site really useful for getting part numbers and prices
Thanks all for the input. With the diagnostiic tool although no fault codes came up we found a large fluctuation in the fuel line pressure which may be another indication that the valve is at fault. I THINK the part number is LR009837 My sons motor is a 2.4 2007. |

VCV changed and no learning. 2.4 Puma. I think the only learning process is the fact that it is an awkward little yoke to change and you tell yourself that you will get someone else to do it in the future 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Hi
Yes Spudfan. I had a call last night. My lad had got a valve and was trying to figure out how to fit it. The way he was talking he needs to take the manifold off along with some other bits and pieces. He is not a happy chappy. THanks all for the help its very much appreciated. |

When I did mine, I think the only thing I removed was the hose form the vacuum pump. And I've got fat fingers. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
