What has happened in sunderland/ north east area, is stagecoach is using gas powered buses on most of the routes now, I think its only Go head that still use Diesel buses for the moment, But then again traveling around sunderland city centre isn't really an option for people by car, as its mainly used for taxis and buses. You can go through it though as there is a major road, that they knocked most of the historic streets to make the road nearly 30 years ago. You can park in sunderland city centre though on the out skirts. That's where the car parks are, but to be honest with you lads, there is Censored all in sunderland at all. No history at all now, the council decided it was a great Idea to knock it all down, To the point now England historic group or something has stepped in, to put a stop to it all. As the council likes to do what it likes. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

My "work" car is a 2016 Fiesta tdci, zero road fund due to its low emissions, diesel be demonized after years of government telling us to buy them!

I'm lucky that I live in the sticks. The only cities I regularly visit are London and York, travelling to London by train and using park and ride in York so as far as I'm concerned they can charge what they like. Cool Defender 90XS SW

York's my neck of the woods. Problem I have when travelling in is that it's either 2 people for 2-3 hours or 5-6 people for the whole day. In both instances it's cheaper and more convenient to pay for parking.
No idea how I'd get to the station to collect visiting friends if diesel were ever banned.

I think lots of councils are going to try and ban private diesels, then the problems of hospitals/trains/poor people will be highlighted and they'll have to back down. First focus should be on buses/coaches, then taxis (easy enough to tax differentially). Private diesels are gradually going to disappear, but not in the next few years.

We use the Park and Ride at McArthur Glen and use our Old Farts Bus Pass so doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thumbs Up Defender 90XS SW
