2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Santorini Black

Td5 Coolant Bleeding

I’ve just replaced the heater inlet pipe running above the exhaust manifold of the Td5. I actually managed to not lose too much coolant! I’m now trying to figure out how best to bleed the system as obviously some air is going to have been introduced into the heater hoses. I have done as the RAVE manual suggests. I’ve set the temperature setting to hot in the cab and opened up the bleed screw on the top hose. An instant strong flow of coolant came out. I can’t imagine it is actually that simple? Is there a way of checking there is no air in the heater matrix etc?

You can loosen off the jubilee clip in the return pipe from the heater matrix and check for air from there, I have a nice ground down screwdriver for this job so as not to damage the pipe when I slide it between the rubber pipe and rigid plastic pipe, normally get a few bubbles of air out, saying that if you are getting nice warm/hot air from your vents you should be fine. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I’m getting lovely hot air at the moment so I’ll just keep an eye on it for the minute! Charlie
