I said no, but I like it.
It’s too pricey and it’s not even close to being a defender replacement. I’d be tempted to replace my FL2 in a few years though. 2002 td5 90 county hardtop |

Well I didn't do that on purpose, but you can't ignore the price part of it. If it were "sub £20,000" as Land Rover actually said when it was talked about some years back, then it would be great. But the crazy prices just knock the whole thing out, to me. Now left. |

I wish I did work for JLR! Though I'd be sacked in a day. Years ago, I use to run a website called SVX - long before the SVX came out. Land Rover invited me to a glimpse of drawings of the new Defender (a focus group). This was about 12 years ago (I think) but I couldn't make it as I'm self-employed and had booked a load of work in that day. Still kicking myself. This was the SVX then: Now left. |

My own personal view on the new Defender with the price tags of the 110, is good luck Landrover.
I honestly can't see how farmers, etc will spend that sort of money and that should have been the target markets. Landrover have forgotten the loyalty factor, which lets face it has kept customers returning for years despite poor quality issues and bad customer relations. Not for me and can't imagine seeing many around farms as well as mines and quarries. |

I submitted no because the price simply cannot be ignored. The original defender was an honest no frills product where no one judge and you drove it not wanting to be judged. It’s as British as a red telephone box and a boarder collie. Non threatening and accepted. I don’t particularly like the new defender but I’m not a hater. It’s just not captured the spirit of the original. It’s existence is purely for profit by a company that appears to be profiteering on its past. If it had another name it wouldn’t be so divisive. If it had another name it would go unrecognised. But Land Rover called it defender and made it a 50k plus product. That is completely against the spirit of the last incarnation. For me, that’s whats wrong. I really wanted to add it to my 110 and heritage 90, but I feel that I’m having my tummy tickled. Be interesting to learn the price point of Radcliffe grenadier , but I’m actually shocked with myself that I’ve had such an adverse reaction. I think that has a great deal to do with the price.

Are people gonna scratch and dent their doors and wings and call it ‘character’ I doubt that very much. It’s a nice motor and all that, but it doesn’t deserve the name.

Really? But now you’re calling it a marmite truck. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

It looks all very nice, but I think it lacks the character of the" real defender ". Not on my to get list anyway.

I’ve had Defenders continuously for twenty five years.
That’s not a Defender, I think it’s a disaster. It looks like a modified Discovery to me and as for the price, a Yummy Mummy car. |
