you could have had a balance weight come off the propshaft, have a check for a adhesive mark where it could have been 2.4 90 XS

Hello,
Mine does is also at speeds of 125-135km/h. I have spoken with a after saler manager of Landrover Holland. He told me its normal for the new Defender. They have changed the position(angle) of the propshaft coming in to the rear diff. Bay this the durability is much better of the propshaft but also bay this there can come little vibrations when there is no force or toque on the propshaft. This happens in between the short moment/period of accelerating/deaccelerating. I can believe his story. It makes some sence to me,althouw i dont like the vibrations especialy not for e new and better vehicel..... greets Michel. |

thanks Grockle and Michel
I looked but can't see any sign of weights missing. like Michel says, it's only around 125/130k's and it's only a small vibration for less than a second. When I go to the dealers next, I will ask them about it. glad it's not a known problem ... |

Bpman,
No it is not normal! Get the dealers to sort it and do not get fibbed off by 'tales of normality!' Michel, My Defender doesn't do it at all, I think the individual who stated it is normal for the new Defender was talking out of his bottom! I think you should have a word or two with him again! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Mi '08 130 Puma has the same problem from the day i bought it (with 14.000km). At 130/140km/hr when i lift the accelarator it starts rattling. It's getting worse and worse. The dealer even fitted a new transfer box and a new u/j but that didn't work. Now someone from Land Rover Netherlands said it's probably one of the propshaft's but they don't want to do anything under warrantee anymore because i had it tuned (by Twisted Performance), fitted front and rear airlockers and raised the front suspension 2 inches. So today i started experimenting myself. First took off the rear propshaft, took it for a (front wheel drive) testdrive and the sound was still there, then took off the front propshaft and then the sound was completely gone. Now i'm looking for a new (double jointed?) front propshaft. I let you know how it works out. 130 Puma DC Pick Up

Still looking for a Double Cardan propshaft (to hopefully solve the vibration problem) there's one at Devon4x4 but not for lifted TDCi's! Anyone who knows where i can find one? My Defender has a 2" lift. 130 Puma DC Pick Up

Result: gone back to std springs (not -2") and slight vibration gone away.. these pumas are very sensitive to suspension changes, with a little weight in the back i can fit into the garage now, i think over time the springs will give 10-15mm and this will fix the problem. 2" is about 50mm - this was too much.
