Think the logic used is that if the sealing is good enough to stop ingress, then adding a boot just means you have the risk of the boot holding water and fine dust suspended in it creating a lovely paste to run down the shaft etc. But my worry was always what about stone chips.... So share the concern. Can't find it now but fox do do rock protection plastic covers for them that bolt on with an my pinch bolt through a plastic cowl. They're open one side and closed shield the other. That might be good but can't remember why we didn't fit the ones that came with ours. Might have been no space. |

So got a quote for adjustable around the 1400 mark and standard remote res about the 1k mark, inc vat + shipping...
think i'll go ahead with adjustable rears and standard fronts |

How easy is the adjustment to do on these? Is a simple job? I’m just curious, I’m delighted with my new Fox dampers 2015 HT XS 90

Interesting Hank. I'm currently running B6 on the rear, (although now wishing I'd got the Foxes from Alive - good news is I haven't got round to fitting front pair or damper, so may return them, take the hit and buy a full fox set), but I'm running the standard HD DC springs. I never tow anything heavier than garden waste, so is popping CSW springs really worthwhile? I'm avoiding comfort springs for the moment as many say the standard springs do the job, but was wondering if the HD set up was just a tad too 'agricultural '....? Would definitely recommend a reduced spring rate but be careful fitting the white green green’s as they can end up raising the rear end. I used an aftermarket spring with lower rate > 110 XS Double Cab

Finally got around to them... had been working on getting some Öhlins but the price keeps sky rocketing already at over 4k before vat... and a build time of at least 8 weeks from now...
snapped a rear spring (alive 'sports' spring) so Ive now went with the comfort springs, found 2 dampers probably not doing a lot so decided to just get the shocks and be done with it managed to get the rears on and will do the fronts when im back from the lakes, got new turrets / hd turret rings and spring retainers from Adrenaline 4x4... So far on my 2 hour drive tonight to the lakes, feels more supported and better damped, not as stiff (rolls more in corners) but feels like better traction, much smoother over the bumps will report back on Tuesday when the fronts are in... I didn’t go adjustable I spoke in length the the uk importer and Alive about this and the std ones are specifically tuned for a defender so I wouldn’t need the ability to change and they’re half the price😂 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)
